As a celebratory gesture of the game franchise’s 15-year anniversary, theMetroTwitter account announced earlier this week that theMetro 2033Redux remasterwould be available to claim for free on Xbox, Steam, and GOG until this past Wednesday, April 16. While the Steam and GOG offerings seemed to have gone through without a hitch, Xbox gamers reported an issue when going to claimMetro 2033 Redux, preventing them from permanently adding the game to their Xbox libraries. SinceMetrowasn’t able to get the issue sorted before the offer’s April 16 expiration, it has promised that it will give Xbox users another opportunity to grabMetro 2033 Reduxfor free at some point soon.

Metro 2033 Redux Will Be Free on Xbox Soon

It’s worth noting that this second chance opportunity will only be live for Xbox gamers, and that Steam and GOG gamers who missed their chance during the original offer window won’t get the offer again. It’s not known exactly why PlayStation or Switch gamers were left out ofMetro’s 15-year anniversary giveaway, though the reasoning could be attributed to the fact thatMetro 2033was originally an Xbox 360 console exclusive, and hadn’t made its way onto PlayStation or Switch until 2014 and 2020, respectively, as2033Redux.

Xbox gamers should expect theMetro 2033 Reduxoffer to pop back up again sometime in the coming days, so they should keep a keen eye on theMetroTwitter account so as to not miss out. As for what’s next for theMetroseries, after theMetro AwakeningVR game was released this past November,a fourth mainlineMetrogame is being worked onby 4A Games, which reportedly had to reboot development in 2022. This newMetrogame could be close to a reveal some point soon, but nothing has been confirmed.
