The question everyone wants to know about anX-Filesreboot is, will Gillian Anderson’s iconic Scully make her way back into the series? Although Coogler doesn’t dive into any specifics, he does state that he has talked with the two-time Golden Globe winning actress and said that he’s looking forward to seeing Anderson in theupcoming movieTron: Ares. Coogler didn’t reveal whether Anderson was interested in coming back or not, but he seemed pretty excited and positive about his conversation with her, as well as wanting theX-Filesreboot to bring in “new fans.”

“I’ve spoken to the great Gillian. She’s incredible. Fingers crossed there. I can’t wait to see her. She’s in Tron. I just saw a trailer for that. When I spoke to her, she was finishing that up. But, yeah, but we’re gonna try to make something really… we’re gonna try to make something really great, bro, and really, really be, you know, something for the real X-Files fans, you know what I’m saying? And, maybe, find some new ones.”

Due to Coogler’s other projects, like directing theBlack Pantherfilm series,Creed, aRockyspin-off, andFruitvale Station, the 38-year-old is more than equipped to bring his experience and skills to anX-Filesreboot and turn it into something really special, while also amassing a completely new fandom that weren’t around for the show’s massive cultural impact in the 90s. The only thing now to wonder is if Scully and Mulder will also join the reboot, but hopefully, more news about that and a potential release window is in the near future.
