Honkai: Star RailVersion 3.2 is one of the biggest patches in the game’s history. It will coincide with theSecond Anniversary event ofHonkai: Star Railand its banners feature some of the most anticipated characters of the year. Some players may gravitate towards pulling for Castorice because she deals the highest damage numbers the game has seen yet, and her free revive Global Passive. However, people shouldn’t snub the second phase unit, Anaxa, as he can provide some good damage for people needing a versatile damage character.

The information about Anaxa’s kit is based on pre-release information at the time of writing, so players should expect possible changes once the character gets released.

Honkai: Star Rail Tag Page Cover Art

Anaxa isHonkai: Star Rail’s first Erudition-Wind character. He inflicts new elemental weaknesses on enemies by simply attacking them. According to recent playtest leaks from HomDGCat, this unit’s play style revolves around tagging opponents with at least five types of weaknesses to get enemies into the “Qualitative Disclosure” state. This lets him deal 30% increased DMG to afflicted opponents at Trace level 10. The rest of his kit and Bonus Traces support this unique gameplay and let him and his team consistently deal hundreds of thousands of damage to swarms of enemies.

Anaxa is One of the Most Versatile Units in Honkai: Star Rail

While Anaxa can’t consistently deal a million damage in one turn like Castorice can, he can still provide some great value to any account because of his adaptability for different team compositions.

Anaxa is a Powerful Sub-DPS for The Herta

The Herta’s A4 Major Trace, “Message from Beyond the Veil,” lets her team deal more CRIT DMG with a partnerErudition character. She’s not particularly picky; free-to-play four-star units Serval and puppet Herta can do the job well enough. If players want a premium sub-DPS for her, they can’t go wrong with Anaxa. His “Imperative Hiatus” Major Trace works similarly to The Herta’s A4, in that it provides a teamwide boost when there is another Erudition character in the team. The difference is that Anaxa’s trace provides a DMG dealt buff.

Another perk of having Anaxa inThe Herta’s teamis his ability to implant weaknesses. Even if it is random, this ability gives The Herta a chance to dominate enemies who don’t have an inherent Ice weakness. Anaxa is also an excellent Interpretation stacker for The Herta with his AoE ultimate and Bounce Attack Skill, which makes The Herta’s damage ramp up with her Enhanced Skill significantly faster.

Anaxa Can Also Hold His Own as a Main DPS

Anaxa’s “Imperative Hiatus” trace has another condition: if there’s only one Erudition character on the team, Anaxa’s CRIT DMG increases by 140%. This stat boost makes him an excellent main DPS inHonkai: Star Rail’s hypercarry team comps, especially if players can take advantage of it by farming relics that improve his CRIT Rate and ATK. Having Premium support units in the team also helps in unlocking his potential as a solo carry.

Anaxa is an Affordable Unit to Build

Those who want to run Anaxa either as a sub-DPS or a hypercarry don’t need to spend as many Stellar Jades as they need to. He can consistently deal hundreds of thousands of damage when Qualitative Disclosure is up, even without Eidolons or his Signature Light Cone, according to beta test footage. He’s not picky when it comes to his teammates, either.

The full potential of recent damage characters is often locked behind their premium supports (e.g., Aglaea with Sunday or Feixiao with Robin). This isn’t the case for Anaxa, as he works more like the classic damage unit. He doesn’t need action advances for himself, and he doesn’t have a memosprite. Any Harmony, Remembrance, or Nihility character that can boost his CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, DMG Dealt, and SPD can work well with him. The upcoming free selector unit Ruan Mei is a great pick, as she offers those buffs and more. For those looking for a damage unit that’s both F2P-friendly and flexible, Anaxa could be the character to pull for inHonkai: Star RailVersion 3.2.
