Now that season 2 has an official release date ofAugust 6th and September 3rd 2025anda fun teaser trailer, fans have gotten a bit of a more detailed look at what to expect. Season 1’s eight episodes weredark, creepy, funny, and full of adventure. While the episodes hit some low notes, such as Wednesday’s romance with Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White), it was a fun and impressive season.
With a few months left beforeWednesdayseason 2 arrives on Netflix, fans are no doubt going to watch the trailer more than a few times and attempt to pick out some important clues. There’sone scene in the trailer that needs to be explained further.
Why Is Wednesday Addams At The Airport In The Wednesday Season 2 Teaser Trailer?
TheWednesdayseason 2 teaser trailer starts withWednesday Addams at the airport with Thing, her hilarious and beloved sidekick. The show will have to explain where Wednesday is either traveling to or coming back from. Since the trailer shows Wednesday being drivenback to Nevermore Academyand she says it’s"like returning to the scene of the crime," viewers know she wasn’t flying back to school. Also,Lurch (George Burcea) drove Wednesday to school in theWednesdayseason 1 premiereand drove her back home in the season 1 finale. So, it’s been confirmed that Nevermore is within driving distance of the Addams Family home.
There is one clue in theWednesdayseason 2 teaser trailer:Wednesday complains that Thing packed sunscreen. It’s possible that Wednesday went to a warm location on summer vacation. This brings up a few more questions that the premiere will hopefully answer, including where Wednesday traveled, what she thought of it, and whether she stillreceived text messages from her stalker. Hopefully, fans will get to see at least a brief flashback of the trip. This could add some levity.
While Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) isn’t shown in this airport scene, maybe Wednesday went somewhere with Enidand her family, or perhaps Enid accompanied the Addams Family. This would be a fun way to reintroduce Wednesday’s friend and roommate, whoEmma Myers said is “more of a badass” in season 2.It would also be fun to see Wednesday and Enid’s contrasting vacation styles. While Enid would no doubt wear bright, colorful patterned clothing and have cheerful chats with strangers, Wednesday would continue to wear black and give everyone harsh stares.
Although Wednesday going on a tropical vacation isn’t exactly the bleak and scary storyline that fans might expect from the upcoming season, it looks like the rest of the season is definitely fairly grim. It also looks likeJenna Ortega’s wish list forWednesdayseason 2 came true. According toE! News, in January 2023, she said at the red carpet of the Golden Globes:
“I think, me personally, I would love to see the series get a little bit darker, and embrace the horror aspect a little bit more.”
Of course, since Wednesday loves to mess with people, she likely got into trouble at whatever resort or hotel she stayed at, and she might have made at least a few strangers miserable during their time away.
