Which Accessories Are Compatible With Nintendo Switch 2?
According to the Nintendo Blog, the Switch 2 will play nicely with mostcurrently available Switch accessories. Most existing controllers, including the Joy-Cons and Pro Controller, will work fine on the new console, so you don’t have to shell out another $80 on a Pro controller. However, this applies only to first-party Nintendo Switch accessories. Third-party accessories from brands like 8BitDo and PowerA may work on a case-by-case basis.
Here Is the Full List of Accessories Compatible With the Switch 2
The Joy-Con and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller can pair wirelessly with the Switch 2. The only downside is that you’ll need a Switch orJoy-Con charging standto recharge the Joy-Cons, as they won’t fit into the Switch 2. The Pro Controller, however, can be charged directly from the new Switch 2 dock via USB cable. The same applies to retro controllers like the NES and Nintendo 64 controllers.
However, not all Switch accessories are compatible with the Switch 2. The original Nintendo Switch Dock is such a huge disappointment if you have multiple of these in different rooms or setups. While this won’t be a deal-breaker for most people, since the Switch 2 includes its own dock, the bigger issue is thatolder microSD cards won’t be supported. Nintendo confirms thatthe Switch 2 is designed exclusively for microSD Express cards. Also, with the upgrade to 4K at 120Hz, gamers will need HDMI 2.1-compatible cables for docking.
