The Interchange is a massive facility with plenty of nooks and crannies for you to explore inAtomfall. Some areas have to bepowered up with Atomic Batteries, while others are locked up with keys that have been lost to time. One such locked door is just outside of Data Store Alpha and requires you to find the person holding the Platform Gate Key to get inside. Unfortunately, since the disaster that occurred within The Interchange happened several years before your arrival, it’s hard to determine where that person or that key may be.
The good news is that this key is still within The Interchange and can be recovered. The bad news is that it’s in an area that’s shrouded in blue mist that causes infection — and the area is inhabited by angry Ferals. Here’s where you can find it.
How To Power Up Data Store Alpha In Atomfall
Before you can search for the Platform Gate Key, you need to get down to the area that takes you to theMedicaldepartment. You’ll first need to power up theBootstrap System Terminal in the Central Processor Roomof The Interchange with an Atomic Battery. Once that’s done, you’ll need to use another Atomic Battery to reactivateData Store Alpha.That won’t be an easy feat as it’s covered in blue mist that causes infection build-up, along with exploding plants that deal even more infection build-up.
The only way to cure infection is by consumingStrange Tonics. You can find the recipe to craft them inside the castle at the Druids' Camp inCasterfell Woods.
After you’ve inserted an Atomic Battery into Data Store Alpha’s terminal, you can exit out into a wide open area that leads to the Medical department. If you go immediately left, you’ll find the locked door that requires the Platform Gate Key to open. So, let’s find that key.
Where To Find The Platform Gate Key In Atomfall
Instead of going left outside of Data Store Alpha,go right toward some stairs leading up. There will be an automated wall turret nearby, but it shouldn’t catch you as long as you avoid its laser. Use the lock release and open the door. This area will be covered in more blue mist, so be prepared to drink some Strange Tonics to cure your infection build-up.
You should also have plenty of medkits or bandages to heal the damage you’re going to take.
Be careful as you enter this area, as there will be anexploding plant to your rightthat can deal some serious damage and infection build-up. There will also be threeFeralshanging around that will immediately attack you if you walk into their line of sight or make too much noise. Normally, the best method for taking out Ferals is by landing headshots with a bow, but you won’t have a lot of room to maneuver here. To make matters worse, that exploding plant will be directly in the way of where you need to go to get the key.
Make sure youhave some good guns equipped, such as a Broadside Auto 5 shotgun or Falkirk Battle Rifle. Then, shoot the exploding plant to blow it up, which will wake up the Ferals. Back away to give yourself some space, and then shoot the Ferals as they try to attack you.
Like most enemies in Atomfall, you should aim for the head to take down Ferals quickly.
Once those enemies are dealt with, enter the room andgo to the right to find a corpse lying in a bathroom stall.Loot the body to find thePlatform Gate Key. Now, head back to the locked door from before and open it up. you may nowuse your Metal Detectorto find a hidden cache filled with loot.
