MindsEye’s Setting, Story, and Characters, Explained

MindsEyeis described as “a richly detailed thriller with best-in-class cinematics and a thought-provoking story about when technology and ambition collide.” Fans can look forward to it being:

A third-person single-player action-adventure set in thefictional near-future city of Redrock, where robots carry out manual tasks and an algorithm connects all-seeing devices to make it “The Safest City in the World.” The city is an intense, super-heated, desert metropolis where technology is king. Redrock is a living experiment in the existential potential of man and machine.

The title will put players in the role of protagonist Jacob Diaz, a formerspecial-ops soldier. Jacob is experiencing haunting visions and fragmented memories of a covert operation he was part of, caused by his titular MindsEye neural implant. As he searches for answers to his past and current condition, Jacob will navigate the tense political and societal landscape of Redrock, and rub elbows with two opposing but equally imposing figures.

MindsEye’s dual antagonists are billionaire Marco Silva, and Redrock’s power-hungry mayor, Shiva Vega. Silva is bent on using his wealth and influence to “change the course of human evolution, whereas Vega desires greater control of the city’s advanced technology and thus the lives of Redrock’s population.” Fans will be able to fight on foot, in vehicles, and seemingly make use of drones in gameplay. The studio has said thatMindsEyeis a linear narrative with a runtime of roughly 15 hours, describing the world as “faux-pen” and likening it to the design ofMafia: Definitive Edition.
