Summary
There are tons of absurdly powerful Quirks introduced in theMy Hero Academia: Vigilantesspin-off series, but not all of these abilities can be dangerous and deadly, hard-hitting attacks, considering they can take all kinds of unique forms. Because there’s usually no way to tell what sort of Quirk someone is going to be given at birth, or what they will receive when consuming a modifier or drug, it means that several people will inevitably inherit abilities that are a little on the weaker side, and rather useless in actual combat.
However, a core theme featured in bothMy Hero Academiaand theVigilantesseriesis that any Quirk, even one that may seem lackluster to begin with, can always be usable in one way or another with enough practice and determination. With that being said, becoming a hero isn’t easy with these Quirks listed below, considering their lack of strength, but regardless, they’re still a lot of fun to learn about and watch in action throughoutVigilante’saction-packed story.
8Tank Engine
A Large And Heavy Ability Which Is Hard To Keep Control Of
There’s no doubt that Tank Engine is an ability that can easily flatten an opponent if it hits them, but being able to keep it on track is far from an easy task. Tank Engine essentially turns the user into a raging bull, but because the lower part of their body remains human, it can take a lot of work being able to remain accurate with such a massive machine balancing on top.
Koichi would end up having a little trouble taking down the villain after finding him rampaging through the street like a madman. Tank Engine is a Quirk which is moreso known for its bizarreThomas the Tank Engine-inspired design, rather than its overall reliability and strength as an ability.
7Longleg
Longleg Seems Like One Of Those Quirks Which Is Tricky To Use Effectively
Longleg is used by a random criminal who can be seen trying to outrun Koichi on a motorbike early on in the series. As a way to throw the vigilante off his trail, the user extends his leg, giving Koichi a quick smack before getting on with his evil deeds. While it can deal damage, the effectiveness of Longleg seems pretty low overall, being one of the morebizarre Quirksseen in the series.
Using it on a motorbike is one thing, but being able to balance on one leg, or even spinning around while staying upright with hands to kick around an open area, can’t be easy. A Quirk that definitely has some kind of potential, but that is still inferior to many of the other abilities seen in the series when it comes to strength.
6Leap
Pop’s Quirk Is Ideal For Her Line Of Work, But It’s A Little Lacking In Offensive Power
As the name implies, Leap gives Pop Step a sudden boost, which allows her to jump through the air in the blink of an eye. As someone who is always headlining concerts, being able to jump up and see the roaring crowd from up above makes it pretty useful for someone like Pop Step, but its uses are fairly limited. Additionally, Leap isn’t all that reliable when it comes to cushioning the user’s fall from a high distance, making it quite risky.
Leap is quite similar toNagant’s Air Walk Quirk, which is seen in the main series, but while the latter keeps Nagant in the air indefinitely as long as she keeps stepping, Leap only does so for a few seconds. It’s far from a bad ability, and Pop has been able to make good use of it throughout the story.
5Fly Swatter
Shoko Will Use Fly Swatter To Put Koichi In His Place When He’s Fooling Around
When Koichi learns that his mother is coming to visit, he’s not exactly all that thrilled about meeting up with her after becoming a vigilante. The main reason for this is that Shoko is more than happy to whack Koichi over the head with her rather unusual Quirk ability, Fly Swatter, if she ever catches him goofing off or not acting appropriately.
4Polygraph
When Used Effectively, Polygraph Can Be A Handy Tool, But Its Overall Use Cases Are Still Very Limited
The way Polygraph works is, so long as Makoto is able to make physical contact with someone, she will be able to tell whether they’re telling the truth or not after asking them a direct question. As someone always looking for the latest scoop, Polygraph has allowed Makoto to acquire plenty of valuable information for her reports,but it’s not without its drawbacks.
As was made clear when Makoto failed to find out Koichi’s identity as The Crawler, a single slip-up in her question can end up backfiring on her, since she might end up getting the answer she doesn’t want. Additionally, Polygraph can’t deal any kind of offensive or mental damage to the opponent, making it rather unique. Overall, though, it’s very limited in how it works and features a few too many limitations to be considered strong.
3Monster Cat
Monster Cat Seems Very Unreliable And Weak, Judging From Its Very Brief Screentime
It’s extremely rare for ananimal to possess a Quirkin the world ofMy Hero Academia, but inVigilantes, it turns out that a random cat possessed a pretty unique Quirk, which was eventually boosted after being injected with the Trigger drug. When it’s enhanced, Monster Cat allows the user to merge with large objects and machinery, as the cat shows off when taking over an entire bus.
Because this is the version of the Quirk seen after it has been boosted, it seems likely the cat can’t take over anything big enough to cause trouble when it’s not juiced up on Trigger. Even when it was cruising across the motorway, the cat was still easily distracted and eventually taken down by Knuckleduster, highlighting a massive weakness in its effectiveness.
2Swan
A Pretty Pathetic Ability When Compared To Most Mobility Quirks Seen In The Series
Swan is a Quirk which makes a very brief appearance early on in the story during one of the gangs' crime-fighting escapades on the street. Out of nowhere, a random pervert leaps into the air, boasting about how great they are, despite the fact their Quirk isn’t even strong enough to keep them in the air unless they stirp off their clothes.
When looking at someone like Hawks, or even Bat, who can cruise through the air at lightning speed with their wings, it’s clear this guy pulled the short straw, since his wings simply aren’t that strong. Still, it’s an ability which he seems to take great pride in, but it would be tricky to use in a fight, considering how weak it is.
1Pointer
Pointer Is A Bizarre Quirk Which Is Very Clumsy And Basic
BecauseVigilantesis a spin-off series, it means the story is free to get a little creative with its Quirks, and it’s fair to say that Pointer is one of the weirdest of them all. Hario can point to anyone or anything, no matter where it is, with his hands and feet, though he can only use three of his limbs since he needs one to hold him up as he contorts his body.
It goes without saying, but Compass Kid really can’t do a whole lot with this Quirk, outside of pointing someone to a loved one who may have gotten lost or seeking out civilians who might be in danger. It’s greatly overshadowed by the Search Quirk, where the user can see through walls to detect a person from afar. In comparison, Pointer feels like a very weak and clumsy prototype that really can’t do much, and may even end up causing more damage to the user than the opponent.
