Throughout their journey inThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, players will find themselves caught up in countless activities across the vast region ofCyrodiil. Whether it’stackling quests, discovering hidden ruins, or exploring dark caves, danger and surprises are always around the corner. One such surprise is contracting Porphyric Hemophilia—an illness that, if left untreated, leads to full-blown Vampirism.
WhileVampirismcomes with a few handy perks, it also brings serious downsides, especially during daytime exploration. Luckily, there are ways to cure it, both before and after the transformation. This guide explains how to cure Vampirism inThe Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion Remastered.
How To Cure Vampirism Before Turning Into A Vampire In Oblivion Remastered
Upon encountering a Vampire and taking a few hits, you might notice a message saying that you have contracted Porphyric Hemophilia. This basically starts a timer, which isthree in-game days, before you completely transform into a vampire. This means that you have more than enough time to look for a cure in that window. The quickest way is totravel to any Chapel and use the Altar of the Nineto completely cure yourself.
Players can also use aCure Diseasepotionif they have one in their inventory. These can sometimes be found inside barrels, but you can alsopurchase them from Claudette Perrick inside The Gilded Carafe in the Imperial City Market District. She sells them for 270 Gold, but you can lower the price by haggling with her. If you are unable to cure yourself using these methods, sleeping after the third day will trigger a long message confirming that you have now become a Vampire.
How To Cure Vampirism After Turning Into A Vampire In Oblivion Remastered
Afterturning into a Vampire, you must be cautious,as moving around during the daytime will drain your health, especially if you do not feed. An easy way to feed is to wait until nighttime and feed off sleeping NPCs. Most houses are locked, so you can resort to feeding on the homeless in some cities. Curing yourself after turning into a Vampire is a long and tedious process, but it is the only option if players do not want to remain Vampires throughout their playthrough. The first thing you need to do ishead to the Arcane University, south of the Imperial City, and talk toRaminus Polus.
you may find him in the Lobby and don’t need access to the full University. Ask him for a cure to Vampirism, and he will tell you to go andsee Count Hassildor in Skingrad.Fast travel to Castle Skingradand head up the stairs on the right toenter the County Hall.
You might need tolockpick the door, but this has an average difficulty, so it should be fairly easy.
Once inside, head down the hall andtalk to Hal-Liurz, steward to Count Skingrad. Tell her that you have to see the Count and that it is about the cure for Vampirism. If you talk to Hal-Liurz before speaking to Raminus Polus, you will not get this option, and she will tell you off, saying the Count won’t talk to you without an appointment.
The steward will tell you to wait in the hall, and the Count will come to meet you shortly. To speed this up, you can wait for one hour, which will instantly start the conversation with Janus Hassildor. He will tell you the story of how he and his wife were also turned into Vampires, and how his wife no longer wishes to live her life this way, so he needs a cure as well. Upon accepting his request, you will receive the “Vampire Cure” quest, and you mustmake your way south of Cheydinhalto find the witch. An easy way to do this is to fast travel to the stables there and move south, either on horseback or on foot.
Once you reach Drakelowe, head inside the cabin to find Melisande, who will agree to help you, but asks that you do something for her first. She wants you to bring herfive Grand Soul Gems, which should be empty.
Now, if you are doing this quest early on in the game, there is a very low chance you have even one Grand Soul Gem on you, so you will have to do quite a bit of traveling, being careful not to travel in daylight if your transformation has advanced.
First, travel to Mystic Emporium in the Imperial City Market Districtand purchase all the Grand Soul GemsCalindilis selling. He might only have one or two, meaning you will still need more. The next best option is totravel to the Mage’s Guildsin the different cities. There are certain NPCs that might have a few Grand Soul Gems in their stock, which you may purchase for 200–300 Gold. While you’re there, if you haven’t alreadyjoined the Mage’s Guild, you can do so, which is free of cost and doesn’t require completing any tasks. You might even find some Grand Soul Gems lying inside cabinets, which are locked, but you can lockpick them during the night and steal them.
Gathering the Ingredients for the Vampirsim Cure in Oblivion Remastered

Once you have all the ingredients with you, head back to Melisande, andshe will tell you to wait 24 hours while shebrews the potion.
