However, in a comment on theFar Crysubreddit, a Ubisoft community developer has clarified that “there was a mistake during a recent update: content meant specifically for the Japanese version of the game was mistakenly uploaded to the worldwide (WW) version on Steam. This resulted in unintended changes, including censored models and assets.”
‘Unintended’ Far Cry 4 Censorship Has Been Fixed
A second comment by the community developer also mentioned that this “wasn’t a new change, it was existing content from the Japanese version that has been live for years.” However, an update has already been pushed toFar Cry 4to reverse the changes, with the correct worldwide data now uploaded to Steam, with confirmation that “there are no plans to censorFar Cryat any time.” Players can enjoy one of thebestFar Crystorieswith the original experience fully intact.
Ubisoft has yet to confirm any plans to releaseFar Cry 7, but fans are waiting patiently for any potential news of a sequel. There were rumors recently that aFar Cryextraction shooter has been rebootedat Ubisoft, but this should be taken with a pinch of salt as nothing has been confirmed. The most recent game in the series,Far Cry 6, was released in 2021. The longest gap between mainline entries in the series currently stands at four years, and if no new game is released this year, then this record will be broken.
