It’s safe to say thatThe First Berserker: Khazanis a success for Neople, with the game garnering plenty of critical acclaim and what seems to be some promising sales figures. While official data on exactly how many unitsThe First Berserker: Khazanhas sold isn’t currently available, using Steam metrics and looking at the game’s launch on PSN paints a clear picture. On PSN,Khazanhas had the 7th-largest launch for 2025, while the game’s peak Steam player count of 136,000 concurrent users and positive review scores (91% “Very Positive” at time of writing) seem to indicate that it’s resonating well with PC players. It begs the question whether players can expect a sequel.
The universe in whichThe First Berserker: Khazantakes place, that ofDungeon & Fighter, is rich with opportunities for future projects, as evidenced by the fact that Neople is currently hard at work on its next game. Further, the different endings toThe First Berserker: Khazanleaves the window open for more stories focusing on the general. GivenThe First Berserker: Khazan’s success, there’s a possibility that the studio might return to the property for a follow-up Soulslike. If it does, there are a handful of inclusions andimprovements toThe First Berserker: Khazanthat would feel right at home in a sequel.
What Should Be Included in a Potential The First Berserker: Khazan Sequel
Expanded Weapon Types and More Armor Sets
While there’s something to be said forThe First Berserker: Khazan’s limited weapon variety, it’s the main thing that could stand to be expanded upon in a potential sequel. But instead of opting for something along the lines ofElden Ring, aKhazansequel should still keep things relatively limited while also expanding the weapon selection to include some fairly standard armaments like curved swords or katanas, or perhaps even a bo staff or magic. In doing so, the potentialKhazansequel would only build uponThe First Berserker: Khazan’s already impressive build variety, allowing newer and more varied armor sets to do a lot of the heavy lifting, given the smaller amount of weapon types.
Cooperative PvE and Competitive PvP Modes
One of the more surprising omissions fromThe First Berserker: Khazanis any sort of multiplayer, which has long been a staple of bothFromSoftware’s Soulsborne gamesand the Soulslike titles that take inspiration from them. AKhazansequel would ideally overhaul the current summon system in favor of human players brought in via co-op PvE, as well as include an optional PvP competitive multiplayer mode where other players could invade during online sessions.
Another of the major improvements that aKhazansequel could make overThe First Berserker: Khazanis the switch to an interconnected world. While the level-based approach thatThe First Berseker: Khazantakes isn’t uncommon (especially amongTeam Ninja’s Soulslikessuch as theNiohgames andWo Long), a shift to a massive, semi-open interconnected world that loops in on itself in surprising ways would be a clear sign of a sequel that steps it up over its predecessor. Plus, the team at Neople has already proven itself adept at designing levels, so seeing what it is capable of with an interconnected world is an enticing prospect.
More Boss Variety and Unique Optional Bosses
While theboss fights inThe First Berserker: Khazanrank among some of the best in the Soulslike subgenre, it’s hard not to feel like there’s a bit of a missed opportunity when it comes to the optional bosses. Most of these enemies are reskins of previously fought encounters, and a sequel would ideally move beyond that model to include optional and secret boss encounters that offered up both the game’s most substantial challenges and some of its more spectacle-rich encounters.
