Summary

The First Descendanthas rolled out its latest version for all platforms, Update 1.2.14, which includes the addition of a new Ultimate Descendant, Ultimate Blair. Other changes players will notice in this latest version ofThe First Descendantinclude a new event titled Blair’s Protection of Ingris and an optional difficulty increase for Void Erosion Purge.

The popularity of the online RPG looter shooter has waned significantly since its release in July 2024. DespiteThe First Descendantsurpassing early player milestonesthat saw 10 million players in its first week on the market and daily peaks of more than 150,000 players on PC alone, more recent data fromSteam Chartsshows that the game has not topped 10,000 peak players in the past week.

That has changed with the release of Update 1.2.14, which shows about a 67-percent increase in players logged in through Steam concurrently on its launch date. Much of that bolstered activity is likely tied to players trying tounlock the new Ultimate Descendant. Players can acquire blueprints for this new Ultimate from Amorphous Materials and can gather needed research materials in Sigma Sector. Unlocking Ultimate Blair provides players with a new character-specific exclusive quest, which will reward those who complete it with a chest attachment. Ultimate Blair also comes with a set of skill modules that can leave enemies burned and improve his critical hit rate, critical hit damage, and skill power against affected enemies.

While Ultimate Blair is the centerpiece of the new update, it also makes plenty of other changes to the game. Players can now unlock the five-stage Void Erosion Purge Challenge difficulty by completing it on Normal difficulty at Stage 30, and a leaderboard has been added for those attempting it on Challenge difficulty. There is also a new special event centered around Blair, with a collection of daily and weekly challenges, giving players the chance to earn additional rewards. Along with these changes, there is a collection of boosts toThe First Descendant’s weaponsand modules, including a feature that causes unique ability or core unlocks on an individual weapon to apply to all identical weapons.

This should be among the finalupdates forThe First Descendanton certain platforms. Even though the game was released less than three quarters of a year ago, Nexon announced in early March that support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game is set to be terminated on Jun 25, 2025. This move is being made to allow the developer to focus on enhanced gameplay on current-generation consoles, and while some players may still be upset by the news, they do have the ability to carry over their progress to newer consoles via the game’s cross-save functionality.
