Summary

Throughout the many incarnations of theTransformersfranchise, Megatron has always been seen as the archrival to Optimus Prime. There haveexisted threats that have been far superior, such as Unicron, but none hold a candle to the legacy held by Megatron.

It is also worth noting that Megatron has gone by multiple names, such as D-16 and Galvatron. D-16 was his designated name while serving as a mining bot. He would adopt the name Megatron, inspired by Megatronus Prime, and become the leader of the Decepticons.

7Transformers: The Last Knight

Megatron Stands at 30 Feet (9.1 Meters)

While Megatron appeared much taller inpast entries for the live-action film franchise, he loses a whole 5 feet by the time of the fifth film. This is because his body is redesigned to be more streamlined and put a greater focus on his new weapons.

This gives him new strategic options that his opponents will not be aware of. This also puts him much closer to Optimus Prime’s height for the film and gives a sense of fairness for them to square off.

6Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Megatron Stands around 30 Feet (9.1 Meters)

The numbers are not exact when it comes to Megatron’s height forTransformers: Fall of Cybertron. However, official sources put his height at around 30 feet. This franchise sees Autobots and Decepticons battle it out for control of Cybertron.

It has been featured in both video games and written formats alike. The games follow the events of theWar for Cybertrongames. However, players do not need to play these games before diving intoFall of Cybertron.

5Transformers One

D-16 Stands at 32.4 Feet (9.8 Meters)

While the events of Transformers One can be found in comic format that portrays this same story, these comics do not feature any official height clarification. It is most likely they follow more comic-accurate sizes. However,Transformers Onehas Megatron’s precursor form, D-16, standing at 32.4 feet.

However, it is worth noting that D-16 recieves 2 notable changes to his height — along with design changes that each put him closer to amore familair Megatron look. By the time it’s the end of the films, he is most likely taller than how he appears in the 2007 live-action films. However, there is no definitive statement for this.

4Transformers

Megatron Stands at 35 Feet (10.6 Meters)

Megatron, along with many others, sees a significant spike in their height compared to past iterations. The Transformers, both Autobots and Decepticons alike, only stood around 19 feet (6 meters) in most previous incarnations. Some of which see Megatron standing at only 16 feet tall. This means his height almost doubles for the feature films.

His design is slightly taller thanhis rival, Optimus Prime, who stands at 38 feet. This makes him more intimidating and threatening. Especially while knocking Optimus about the city in the final confrontation of the film.

3Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Megatron doesn’t get any larger than how he appears in the first live-action film based on theTransformersfranchise. While he is revived, his body is not augmented like how he appears inThe Last Knight.

Optimus Prime, on the other hand, is able to achieve a new form that sends him up to the 40-foot mark. Placing him larger than Megatron ever appears in these films.

2IDW Comic Continuity

Megatron Stands at 38 Feet (11.5 Meters)

Megatron receives an even larger increase for the IDW comic continuity, which starts in 2005. These comics are perfect for fans of Transformers who want to get into the comics but find the pre-millennium options far too dated.

These comics do not follow the exact events of the originals and even separateMegatron and Galvatroninto different entities entirely. This can help give fans access to a ton of new stories and lore elements they never knew existed.

In the original continuity, Megatron and Galvatron are one and the same. Megatron is converted into Galvatron through the intervention of one of the greatest antagonists in the franchise,Unicron.

1Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers: The Battlestars

Super Megatron Stands at 114.8 Feet (35 Meters)

Megatron, along with many other transformers, sees an obscene spike in his height for this manga. Megatron’s height is tripled compared to the previous entry. The wording and storytelling is romanticized and the artwork for how weapons are fired is emphasized with plenty of fire and massive explosions.

This manga is a whole other experience compared to reading the comics and is something any longtime comic reader should give a spin.
