Avowedis filled to the brim withUnique Weapons, which are the highest-quality weapons the game has to offer. And thanks to the game’s upgrade system, a weapon you find in Dawnshore – the game’s first region – could feasibly last you throughout your playthrough. However, there’s no doubt that most ofAvowed’s best weapons are found later in the game. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find theUnique Weapons that are best suited to completingAvowed’s endgame sections.
The Best Endgame Melee Weapons in Avowed
Last Light of Day – Sword:
Last Light of Day, despite being found very early inAvowed,is arguably the most useful sword in the game. Found during the “Dawntreader” mission,Last Light of Dayis the first weapon you find that replenishes health with every enemy kill. While it starts with 3% health replenishment per kill, that can be raised to 5% throughAvowed’s Enchantment system.
This unique one-handed sword is also wreathed in flames, and is capable of dealing fire damage. This is helpful against enemies, but it is incredibly useful for exploration. Many of the obstacles inAvowedcan be burnt, and using Last Light of Day allows you to simply attack any burnable barrier. This will be hugely helpful from the moment you collect the sword, to the final moments at the end of the game. It is this unique mix of traits that makes this early-game sword one of the verybest weapons forAvowed’s endgame.
To getLast Light of Day inAvowed, you’ll need to eitherkill Sargamisduring “Dawntreader,” or convince him to sacrifice himself for his failure of an experiment. Either way, the sword can be looted from his body once he has died.
Ondra’s Offense – Sword:
The next best one-handed sword isOndra’s Offense, which also features a unique mix of traits. This sword is acquired through the “Forged of Star-Stuff” side-quest, which tasks the Envoy with collecting aFragment of Starmetalin each region. Once you’ve collected at least two fragments, you can take them toForgemaster DelainSolace Keep– the large fortress inGalawain’s Tusks. Turn in the Starmetal and ask for the sword. This will grant you theMeteor Blade. Speak to Forgemaster Dela again, and he will offer to upgrade the blade with another piece of Starmetal.
Ondra’s Offense is essentially the sister sword to Last Light of Day. Instead of flames, this sword is fused with ice, and is not only capable of freezing enemies, but also creating the frozen platforms that the Envoy uses to cross large pools of water. This makes the sword incredibly powerful in combat, and incredibly useful during exploration. Many players will dual-wield Ondra’s Offense and Last Light of Day, providing the best mix of options.
Hel’s Tongue – Greatsword:
Hel’s Tongueis arguably the best overall two-handed greatsword inAvowed. It features one of the best enchantments in the game, which causes each hit to deal fire damage when an enemy is above 50% health, then switches to frost damage when an enemy is below 50% health. This combination affects a huge range of enemies, allowing the Envoy to easily take out some of the toughest foes in the game. The sword’s Power Attack also restores a percentage of Essence upon killing an enemy, making this weapon especially useful for those that rely on abilities.
Hel’s Tongue is found in the southeastern corner ofShatterscarp, at a location called theTwin Offerings Overlook. Climb to the top of the rock tower, past the camp where Xaurip Chief Grithin (bounty target) is located. You’ll find Hel’s Tongue sitting on the ground at a small shrine just before theAncient Memory.
Unmaker – Greatsword:
Unmakeris actually a special sword that seems specifically designed to help withAvowed’sendgame. This is because it has a special enchantment that causes increased stun damage to all surroundingMaegfolcafter landing a critical hit. On top of this, Unmaker also deals massively increased damage with Power Attacks, as high as 25% more with the upgraded Enchantment.
You’ll find Unmaker inThe Garden. In the Broken Aqueduct area, head to the pool of water south of the floating platforms. You’ll find the sword underwater, at the base of the waterfall that fills the pool.
Forge’s Friend – Greathammer:
Forge’s Friendis an incredibly powerful two-handed greathammer that features two very useful enchantments. First, all Power Attacks with this weapon deal fire damage (much more when upgraded). Like other flaming weapons, this is not only useful for combat, but exploration as well. However, it is this weapon’s ability to summon aGreater Fire Blightwith any special attack that makes it truly amazing. Special Attacks are the counter-attacks you perform once an enemy has been stunned.
Getting Forge’s Friend is a bit tricky. To get this weapon, you must learn the secret password to the southern entrance to Mt. Forja Mine in Galawain’s Tusk. To get this, you must deliver the letter that proves Councilor Kostya has been seeking outside help from the Aederyn empire to Kostya himself, and he will reveal the password. you’re able to find a letter out front of Warden’s Rest in Galawain’s Tusk. Use the password at the southern entrance to the mines, which allows access to the treasure room, where you’ll find Forge’s Friend in a chest.
Best Endgame Ranged Weapons in Avowed
Caeroc’s Pride – Pistol:
Caeroc’s Prideis found early, and remains the best pistol inAvowed. This weapon’s electric enchantment can not only cause damage over time to enemies, but is also incredibly useful for targeting Essence Generators found throughout the game. This is yet another example of a weapon that not only remains an important tool for combat, but also proves to be equally useful for exploration.
Caeroc’s Pridecan be picked up off the dead body of Tempestuous Luandi, one of Dawnshore’s bounty targets. You’ll find her on the small island west of Castol’s Folly.
One Last Trick – Arquebus
For players who enjoy using firearms inAvowed,One Last Trick may be the best weapon in the game. Its first enchantment allows the projectiles from the gun to bounce to multiple foes within range. This makes the weapon incredibly useful for clearing larger crowds. Along with that, it also has a base reload speed that is 20% faster than the basic arquebus, making it feel much more like a pistol. This weapon makes an excellent ranged backup for those players who use smaller weapons in their primary slot.
One Last Trick is given as a reward for completing the “Steel Resolve” questline in Emerald Stair. If you wait till later in the game to end the quest at the Ranger’s Headquarters, you’re able to get the Legendary version without any upgrade cost.
Ancient Alacrity – Bow:
Sadly, bows are not very well represented inAvowed. However,Ancient Alacrityis absolutely the best bow you will come across. One of the main reasons bows are difficult to use well, is because many of the large enemy groups simply move too fast to warrant a one-shot weapon with much less power than the arquebus. However, this bow deals with that issue by slowing any enemy hit for 8 seconds. Aside from that, Power Shots will grant you a 20% increase in Movement Speed, which is an incredibly powerful boon inAvowed.
To getAncient Alacrity, you’ll need to reach the final quest inGalawain’s Tusks,“Our Dreams Divide Us Still.” On your way down to the Solace Lava Tubes, you’ll find a mini-boss namedSibelius. This phantom enemy is found in a small, circular courtyard with a small, raised walkway along its edge. The walkway is lined with several doors. You’ll find Ancient Alacrity behind the first locked door on the left side of the walkway.
Make sure to bring at least5 lockpickswith you if you want to get Ancient Alacrity during “Our Dreams Divide Us Still.” This is the requirement for opening the locked door hiding the Legendary bow.
Cruel Command – Wand:
Like bows, wands are also not the most helpful weapons inAvowed. However, the one exception to this rule isCruel Command. This magical ranged weapon deals fire damage, which puts it in the same category as Last Light of Day and Forge’s Friend, meaning they all act as a great tool for both combat and exploration. Cruel Command also deals a huge boost of Stun damage to enemies with full health, making a Special Attack possible much sooner in a fight.
Cruel Command is sold byQuartermaster Eberkat theSouthern Warden Towerin Galawain’s Tusks. The cost is 58,500 Skeyt. Cruel Command will already be at the Legendary tier when you purchase it.
While there are decent Grimoire’s inAvowed, ultimately they are too restrictive to recommend for the endgame. Instead, those players looking to rely on magic as their primary tool for combat, should invest in the spells through the Wizard skill tree. This will allow you to always have the same spells in your ability wheel, instead of needing to rely on a Grimoire being constantly equipped.
