Even though Capcom hasn’t released a new installment in theAce Attorneyseries since 2017, it still keeps the franchise alive in a variety of different ways. Throughout the last several years, for instance, Capcom ported almost every game in the series to modern platforms. Additionally, in March 2025, the publisher hosted anAce Attorney-themed crossover event for its hit 2023 fighting game,Street Fighter 6. The event featured a Turnabout Gala battle pass, which contained unique rewards that were only accessible to players from March 3 to March 24.
Street Fighter 6’sAce Attorneycollaborationincluded a new Capcom arcade game, a set of Steel Samurai avatar gear, an Objection! emote, and a selection of music tracks taken directly from theAce Attorneyseries. The battle pass for the event even featured someAce Attorney-themed stickers and camera frames that players could use in the game’s photo mode. As with all battle passes, however, the majority of these crossover items couldn’t be obtained for free; instead, gamers had to purchase some ofStreet Fighter 6’s in-game currency to unlock them. Although it’s nice that Capcom paid homage to theAce Attorneyfranchise inStreet Fighter 6, this collaboration had one major issue: a lack of new guest characters.

Despite Collaborating With Several Franchises, SF6 Doesn’t Have Many Guest Characters
Many of theStreet Fightergames have received special characters from other franchises throughout the years, either through DLCs or enhanced re-releases.Street Fighter 6, however, has been kept a bit more limited compared to its predecessors in this regard. To date, only two guest characters have appeared in the entire game:Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui. Both of these fighters are from SNK’sFatal FuryandKing of Fightersfranchises, and they were included in the second season of DLC forStreet Fighter 6.
Much to the disappointment of fans, most of the collaborations inStreet Fighter 6have been lacking in depth. Capcom has held crossover events with other non-fighting game franchises inSF6, includingSpy x Familyand evenTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but they have only featured unlockable cosmetics so far. A lot of gamers likely expected these collaborations to add new fighters to the game, each with their own distinct abilities and movesets. Instead, they got nothing but glorified skins that cost a ridiculously high amount of real-world money and had no practical use gameplay-wise.
Capcom Should Have Made Phoenix Wright a Playable Character in SF6, Just as it Did in Ultimate MvC3
The fact that the recentAce Attorneycollaboration also suffered from this same problem is especially disappointing, considering how long fans have waited for the franchise’s characters to appear in a fighting game again. Phoenix Wright, the main protagonist of theAce Attorneyseries, did show up in a game similar toStreet Fighter 6in the past. In 2011, Capcom added him asa playable character inUltimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, the enhanced re-release of the originalMvC 3. Despite being a lawyer with no superhuman abilities, Phoenix was actually a viable fighter to play as. He didn’t feel like a last-minute addition to the game that was simply thrown in for laughs.
Capcom had the perfect opportunity to make up for the lack of newguest characters inStreet Fighter 6’s crossover eventsby adding Phoenix Wright to the game, just as it did inUltimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Unfortunately, though, instead of doing this, the company opted to include a handful ofAce Attorney-themed stickers, photo frames, and armor sets for the recent collaboration. New cosmetic items can be exciting, but when a game likeStreet Fighter 6pads out a crossover event by relying exclusively on them, they often end up being more disappointing than enjoyable.
