Summary

Miles Morales and Peter Parker both share the mantle ofSpider-Man, with nearly identical powers and abilities. However, the spider that bit Miles granted him several additional powers that set him apart from Peter. These unique abilities help make up for Miles’ lack of experience and raw strength, allowing him to stay on par with, and in some cases even surpass, Peter.

Not only does Miles have additional powers, but he also became Spider-Man after the mantle had already been well established. This gave Miles an easier introduction to the superhero world, as he had a blueprint to follow. However, it also presented unique challenges, with supervillains targeting him from the very beginning. These are some of the most important things Miles Morales can do that Peter Parker can’t.

8Learning From A Mentor

Miles Has The Opportunity To Learn From Peter

Although Miles Morales started as Peter Parker’s successor after his death, more recent and popular storylines, like theSpider-Verse Seriesand Insomniac’sSpider-Mangames, allow him to learn from a mentor. Typically, Peter serves as both a teacher and a friend, guiding Miles as he develops his powers and grows into his version of Spider-Man.

Having the opportunity to learn from and work alongside a fellow Spider-Man is a significant advantage for Miles. It allows him to develop his skills more quickly, avoiding the trial-and-error process Peter had to endure. With guidance from Peter, as well as others like his Uncle Aaron, Miles grows into his role much faster than Peter did.

Miles Morals uses Bio-Electrokinesis to defeat Mandriod

7Bio-Electrokinesis

Miles Has Unique Abilities

Unlike Peter Parker, Miles Morales can generate and control bio-electricity, allowing him to create, shape, and manipulate it for both offensive and defensive purposes. This unique ability helps Miles stand out as his own herorather than just another spider-themed superhero, giving him distinct combat advantages and a signature fighting style.

Miles most commonly uses this power in the form of his Venom Punch and Venom Blast. With precise control, he can deliver anything from a light shock to a powerful surge capable of incapacitating most opponents. His bioelectric abilities also extend to technology, allowing him to disable, destroy, or even jump-start devices with ease.

6Energy Resistance

Miles Has Enhanced Durability

As a result of his bio-electrokinesis powers, Miles has enhanced energy resistance, surpassing even Peter’s natural abilities. While Peter does have a strong resistance to energy-based attacks, Miles’s ability to generate and control bio-electricity grants him an additional layer of protection, allowing him to absorb, dissipate, or redirect energy more effectively.

Miles’ enhanced energy resistance makes him particularly well-suited to facing off againstsupervillains with energy-based powers, such as Electro, Shocker, and Mister Negative. Miles’ enhanced energy resistance also plays a crucial role in making him a better hero. It allows him to safely enter dangerous environments, such as electrified water, to save lives with minimal risk to himself.

Miles Morales Spider-Man Camouflage

5Camouflage

Miles Can Turn Invisible

Another unique ability that Miles possesses, which Peter doesn’t, is active camouflage. This power allows Miles to become almost completely invisible by blending into his surroundings. It significantly enhances his stealth skills, enabling him to move undetected in most environments. It’s especially useful when sneaking past enemies or making a quick escape.

Although the power is somewhat inconsistent, sometimes appearing as a natural reflex that Miles doesn’t have full control over, it remains one of the most intriguing and unique tools in his powerset. When combined with his Venom powers (bio-electricity), Miles becomes the ultimate stealth infiltrator, able to move unnoticed and incapacitate enemies with a single touch.

Miles Uses Radar Sense

4Radar Sense

Miles Has Unique Spider-Sense

Although Miles' base Spider-Sense may not be as refined asPeter Parker’s, some versions of the character have developed a radar-like sense, similar to Daredevil’s enhanced abilities. This radar sense allows Miles to perceive through solid matter, such as walls and buildings, making him exceptionally suited for search-and-rescue missions or handling hostage situations.

Although still underdeveloped, this enhanced ability builds upon Miles' Spider-Sense. While his Spider-Sense may not be on the same level as Peter’s, it pushes Miles in his own direction as Spider-Man. It will be interesting to see how this power develops in future storylines, or if it’s forgotten and never used again.

Miles Can Make Bio-Electric Webs

Miles Can Make Bio-Electric Webs

Based on his bio-electrokinesis powers, Miles can create threads of bio-electricity that he uses in place of traditional web-shooters. Unlike most modern versions of Spider-Man, who rely on web-shooters for swinging and web-based abilities, Miles has the advantage of generating his web constructs naturally.

Of course, Miles' bio-electricity isn’t an unlimited pool of energy,so he still relies on his web-shooters. However, the ability to create his own bioelectric threads can be a game-changer, especially when he runs out of web fluid. These threads can also function like a taser web and can conduct electricity, making them useful for repairing technology in a pinch.

Miles Can Create Constructs With Bio-Electricity

2Energy Constructs

Miles Can Create Constructs With Bio-Electricity

Another ability derived from Miles' bio-electic powers is his ability to create energy constructs, with his most popular construct known as the Venom Saber. The Venom Saber shares similarities to a lightsaber, acting as a sword of pure energy that can cut through some solid objects.

The Venom Saber reflects Miles' creative and youthful personality, showcasing his love forover-the-top animeand out-of-the-box thinking. Although fan reception has been mixed, the Venom Saber would be a fun and exciting ability to incorporate into a Spider-Man game or in theSpider-Versemovie series.

Immortality

1Immortality (Unconfirmed)

Miles Might Be Immortal

Although it’s never been explicitly confirmed in a storyline, it’s implied that Miles Morales, at least the version from Earth-1610, is potentially immortal. The spider that bit him and granted him his powers contained the Oz Formula, a substance known to have properties that grant the user immortality.

WhenNorman Osborn, who had taken the Oz Formula, was shot directly in the face, he survived and proclaimed that he had found the key to immortality. Given that Miles also has the Oz Formula, this event heavily implies that Miles, like Osborn, may have gained immortality. This idea is further reinforced when Osborn says to Miles that Miles will live forever.
