Through the power of the mysterious system, Sung Jinwoo inSolo Levelinghas been granted a seemingly endless stream of abilities that make himthe hunter with the most potential to be the strongest in the series.
The anime adaptation ofSolo Levelingtakes great care in explaining these various abilities through on-screen graphics and visual storytelling. While some of these abilities are showcased with flashy special effects, one stands out as the most powerful despite even Sung Jinwoo not initially realizing its true advantages. Just which of Sung Jinwoo’s multitude of powerful abilities is the most overpowered?
Tough Competition
So Many Abilities to Consider
It is no easy feat trying to evaluate and determine which of Sung Jinwoo’s broken abilities are the most overpowered. After all, he is able to do so many things other hunters are simply incapable of.
Perhaps his most defining ability is that Sung Jinwoo can level up and grow stronger continuously through his connection to the system. In the world ofSolo Leveling,it was thought that once hunters awaken, their powers can never get stronger. Sung Jinwoo turned this idea on its head, quickly shattering the previously thought limits of a hunter’s power.
“The system uses me, and I use the system.” -Sung Jinwoo
However, even this ability that defies the world’s logic is still not his most overpowered one. While growing stronger is nice, he can still be defeated by a vastly superior opponent if he doesn’t have time to level up. Also, because Jinwoo has to keep this abilityhidden, he can only level up while soloing. This makes the ability to grow exponentially a double-edged sword. While he grows unlike any other hunter, he also cannot rely on the safety-in-numbers strategy that traditional hunters employ to clear difficult dungeons consistently. This makes the ability more balanced, as he has to overcome strong challenges and monsters all by himself to get it to work.
Well, what other ability could be his most overpowered then? One might assume the powers of the shadow monarch he has been granted must be his most overpowered ability. The ability to resurrect his defeated opponents to create an incredibly strong, undying army does seem broken. However, as powerful as it is, Jinwoo’s shadow army has limits. They constantly drain his mana when defeated, and his shadow extraction ability can fail if the defeated opponent is too powerful. This means that despite granting him immense strength over every hunter showcased in the anime so far, it still fails to be the most overpowered.
The Power of Recovery
Sung Jinwoo’s Most Overpowered Ability
When settling onevaluating which ability Sung Jinwoo possessesthat is the most overpowered, it’s hard to top one of the first abilities he ever received: his daily quest recovery reward. This ability, if he completes his daily quests, allows Sung Jinwoo to fully recover his health, fatigue, and mana once per day. Unlike the other abilities previously mentioned, this recovery has no limits, meaning it scales with Jinwoo as he grows more powerful.
In terms of saving Jinwoo’s life, this recovery ability has probably done the most work out of any of his others. Jinwoo’s decision not to claim his daily reward just in case he gets caught up in a fight becomes a vital part of his battle strategy because of how broken it is. With this ability, Jinwoo basically gets an extra life every day while only needing to do a minimal amount of push-ups and running to gain access to it.
Another thing that makes it so strong is that no matter how devastating of a hit Jinwoo takes, all he has to do is mentally click the recovery button, and he is as good as new. He can activate this ability as fast as he can think of it, and it works instantly. This makes it even better than some of the other regeneration-type abilities we have seen so far, like the Ant King Beru’s high-speed regeneration.
The recovery ability is also extremely versatile in its application. It allows him to experiment with his powers, surprise opponents who thought they defeated him, and instantly turn the tide of any battle. All this adds up to the fact that while all the other abilities in Jinwoo’s arsenal may be cooler looking, this simple menu option on his system screen is actually the most overpowered thing Jinwoo can do inSolo Leveling.
