The Cartenon Temple was featured in the first season of Solo Leveling, but there was little to no mention of the place in the subsequent season until the very end.

The Cartenon Temple’s Secrets Explained

Sung Jinwoo traveled to the Cartenon Temple in the Double Dungeon arc. The hero doesn’t rush in and completes other tasks before heading to the location. When he enters the Cartenon Temple, Jinwoomeets Kandiaru, the Architect, who is responsible for creating the System. The Architect teamed up with the Shadow Monarch to find a suitable vessel that would help revive him. After the bloodbath in Cartenon Temple, Sung Jinwoo was selected to be the Player.

As Sung Jinwoo entered the Cartenon Temple, he had to fight the statues that had nearly killed him during the first visit. However, the hero had no trouble dealing with them.Even the Statue of God was unable toseriously damage Jinwoo. After taking down the statues, the Architect stepped forward and promised to reveal the truth about the incident if Jinwoo could beat him, but there was a catch. Sung Jinwoo had to beat the Architect within 10 minutes, or else the System would kill the hero.

The Architect dominated the fight from the get-go, and it was looking seemingly unlikely for Jinwoo to win. However, the hero dug in and turned the tide of the battle. He defeated the Architect with a little more than 2 minutes remaining. Subsequently, the Architect put Jinwoo in a trance and waited for the Shadow Monarch to return. At the same time, Choi Jong-in, Cha Hae-in, and Woo Jin-Chul entered the Cartenon Temple. Kandiaru was surprised to see them, so he decided to offer them as sacrifices. He ordered the statues to attack and kill the Hunters. It became quite clear that the Hunters stood no chance of beating the statues. So, they changed their attention to waking up Jinwoo, but it was to no avail.

Sung Jinwoo Rescued Everyone Again

Everything pointed to the Hunters being massacred, but luckily, Sung Jinwoo woke up and saved them.Kandiaru was surprised that Jinwoohad taken the Black Heart of the Shadow Monarch and had retained his persona. The Architect soon realized that he had been betrayed by the Shadow Monarch.

Kandiaru still had some fight left in him, so he ordered the statues to kill the humans while he tried to override the System manually. However, he discovered that the Shadow Monarch had locked him out of the System. Kandiaru was enraged, but there was nothing that he could do. As Sung Jinwoo destroyed Kandiaru’s body, the latter told the hero of a prophecy. Unfortunately for him, Jinwoo was not intimidated by it, and he resumed fighting the remaining statues.

Solo Jinwoo’s visit to the Cartenon Temple was important as it helped him gain a new power andlearn more about the Monarchs andRulers. Obviously, Jinwoo would have liked to receive direct answers from the Architect, but he won’t be disappointed with what he got.
