Summary
Solo developer TVGS, otherwise known as Tyler, has commented on rumors of the smash hit indie gameSchedule 1coming to consoles in the future.Schedule 1has only been in Steam early access for a few weeks, but it has already pulled in hundreds of thousands of players, many of whom are eager to see the title make its way to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
After releasing in early access on March 24,Schedule 1quickly found massive success on Steam. The crime simulation game was created by a sole developer, who likely didn’t expect this small title to become one of Steam’s most-played games. After just a few days,Schedule 1pulled in over 130,000 concurrent players on the platform. Then, on April 6, it smashed through that record and peaked at well over 450,000 concurrent players.Schedule 1now averages around 120,000 concurrent players every day, making it the fourth most-played game on Steam, with only heavy hitters such asDota 2, Counter-Strike 2,andPUBG: Battlegroundsabove it.
Schedule 1 Dev Comments on Potential Console Release
After becoming such a huge success on Steam, it’s no surprise that players are eager to seeSchedule 1ported to consoles such as the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Thankfully, alongsidenewSchedule 1content updates, a console version of the game seems to be on the developer’s radar. In a new statement on Twitter, Tyler discussed similar games currently available on the PlayStation Store, stating that there is no affiliation with TVGS orSchedule 1. The developer then said that they would “love to portSchedule 1to console,” but only when the game is “at the right stage.” Tyler noted that an official announcement will happen well before its release.
It could still be quite some time before fans seeSchedule 1make its way to consoles, as the solo developer still has plenty of other improvements to work on first. Tyler recently revealed that he plans to work on new optimization improvements to getSchedule 1verified for Steam Deck. As of right now,Schedule 1is playable on the Steam Deck, but a lack of official controller support and a few other issues are preventing the indie title from being officially verified on the platform. Thankfully, asSchedule 1isn’t exactly a graphically intense game, fans can currently run the game anywhere between 40 and 60 frames per second, depending on the graphics settings applied.
With Steam Deck support and a console release seemingly inSchedule 1’s future, there’s plenty for fans to look forward to. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been all good news for TVGS as it was recently confirmed thatSchedule 1is being investigated for potential copyright infringement. The allegations come fromDrug Deal Simulatorpublisher Movie Games S.A., which claimed thatSchedule 1has used elements fromDrug Deal Simulator’s plot, gameplay mechanics, and user interface.
