Summary
RuneScape: Dragonwildsoffers a complete survival experience that will challenge even the most gritted veterans of the genre. With non-scripted dragon attacks tormenting players from hour zero, to warbands of deadly goblins, garous, and other unfriendly inhabitants of this world, players will have their hands full.
So, here are eight beginnertips forRuneScape: Dragonwildsthat will make players' lives easier as they settle down in the dangerous land of Ashenfall. From the best way to manage resources, to some hidden combat mechanics everyone can use to their advantage when exploring the hardest dungeons.
8Kill The Cows & Chickens
They Offer Early Access To Leather And Feathers, And Will Give You A Nice Headstart
When players spawn at Temple Woods, they will have to complete a series of introductory queststo learn how to craftand one of the steps of that quest will take players near a mill. Around the area, there’s a spawning zone for cows, chickens, and giant rats.
Players might have second thoughts about murdering farm animals, but the truth is, they spawn again all the time, and don’t have ‘owners,’ so go ahead and cull the herd. Plus, chickens drop feathers, and Cows, Animal Bones, and Animal Hide, ingredients which will help players unlock Tier 2 equipment much faster.
7Learn How To Parry
Melee Combat Is Unavoidable, Better Safe Than Sorry
Parrying is one of the most important mechanics in the game, and it doesn’t have a comprehensive tutorial, but that will be extremely important throughout the adventure. It consists of timing the block button (Right Click) at the exact moment an enemy attack lands, to stun them briefly and negate all damage.
Contrary to simply blocking, it consumes less stamina and, of course, it won’t result in the players taking any damage at all. These two properties makeParry essential for melee fighting, and since it is nearly impossible to avoid close-quarters combat, players should practice how to Parry until they master it. Smaller Tier 1 enemies like Giant Rats are useful for training, plus they drop loot players need.
6Make Sure To Craft Runes
They Are The Fuel Of Everything Magic-Related, Carry A Hefty Sum
Spells from all kinds, including buffs, farming spells, and offensive spells require Runes to be activable, and since the game doesn’t offer too much ranged combat support (for now), these are the lifeblood of a healthy explorer. From illuminating a dungeon without having to carry a torch, to using a boost jump to access high areas, Spells are key to exploration in Ashenfall, and running out of Runes mid-exploration is not fun at all. So, go ahead and craft severalRunes of every type on the Rune Altar.
The weight of the Runes might be a concern for players, but don’t worry: they barely weigh anything, and even carrying 2000 Runes of different types will (at most) fill half the encumbrance gauge. Plus, if players unlock the Lvl. 27 Perk (Essential Strength) of the Runecrafting Skill, it will reduce the weight of Runes considerably, so they will be able to carry more.
5Enemies Can Drop More Than Mats
Recipes, Consumables, And Even Lore
Enemies from all shapes and colors will be waiting for players inRuneScape: Dragonwilds, and one of the things they need to know is that they are not only a steady source of materials to craft. Monsters can drop containers (Like Goblin Bags) which, once opened, can grant Potions, Infusions, Runes, and extra mats.
On the other hand, certain monsters like the Goblin Bruiser will drop Lore Objects that players can study to unlock certain recipes for weapons, furniture, base decorations, and more. Players should be on the lookout for monster settlements or nests to get all the drops from them faster.
4Chests Respawn After A Few Days
Check Frequently To Get Extra Loot
Chests contain valuable loot, mats, equipment, recipes, and even potions that players can acquire much faster than by crafting them. And one of the details of Chests is that they respawn after a few days, but for that, players need to empty the containers.
Make sure to loot everything valuable, and throw to the floor (or destroy) whatever doesn’t fit in the bag, or things like repeated recipes that don’t have any use. Discard all the unwanted objects so that new loot can spawn a few days later.
3There Are Secret Places Almost Everywhere
Behind Thorn Vines, Crumbling Walls, Or High Ledges
Players should observe their surroundings carefully when exploring, since Ashenfall holds many secrets besides the Dragonkin Vaults. Some places, like hidden rooms with chests, might only be accessible by finding a Crumbling Wall, which can be destroyed with a Pickaxe if the player’s mining skill is high enough.
The same happens with Woodcutting, as certain secret rooms can be accessed by cutting down the thorny vines that cover their entrance. And using the Windstep Spell, players can access high ledges that hide treasure, or even access secret Vaults that they haven’t explored before.
2Enemies Cannot Reach You On High Ground
They Can Attack You Using Ranged Weapons, Though
And speaking about the Windstep Spell, it can also be used in combat to reach high places that are not accessible to enemies attacking at melee range, like Goblin warbands. Once players have the high ground, it will be over for them: They can use bows, spells, or staves to destroy them with ease.
Mind the Archers, and other spellcaster enemies, and of course, the rampaging dragons that roam the dangerous realm of Ashenfall. These enemies will attempt to kill players or bring them down from their hideout, so target them first.
Use This Tactic To Clear Dungeons And Dragonkin Vaults With Ease
When players explore Dragonkin Vaults looking for treasure and new recipes (that can be found in chests and on Shining Dragonkin Statues) they will often come across Vault Guardians, which are annoying golem enemies that can mercilessly pursue the player without losing aggro. In those cases, the best tactic to fight these enemies is to lure them to the many clockwork traps placed around the dungeon.Spikes and Spears will hurt them as much as they hurt the players, and in each section of the Vaults that is covered in traps, there’s a safe spot. Run towards it, and lure the Vault Guardians to follow into the active traps, and they will die in no time. Showering them with spells and arrows will speed up the process.
