New information about the long-rumored remastered version ofThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionsuggests that the release will include all of its DLC.Oblivionreceived a number of paid downloadable add-ons, helping pioneer the concept for contemporary games.
While Bethesda has yet to officially confirm its existence, the rumors surrounding a supposed remake or remasterThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionare growing even more intense. Though anOblivionremaster has been talked about for years among fans and industry commentators, more concrete leaks and rumors are emerging. One insider placed theOblivionremaster release windowwithin the month of April 2025, suggesting it could even be a “shadow drop” without a formal pre-release announcement.
Meanwhile, another rumor comes courtesy of theDefining Duke podcast, during which co-host Barry “Lord Cognito” Eversly said that whenever it releases, theOblivionremaster could launch with “all the DLCs included.” The comment suggested that anOblivionremaster would include the game’s Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions, as well asOblivionDLC packslike the notorious Horse Armor Pack.
Oblivion Remaster Could Include All Previously Released DLC Packs
Lord Cognito wasn’t specific about his source for the comment about the included DLC, but said it was a “very good authority” that confirmed the information. That suggests it could be an insider with close knowledge of Bethesda and Microsoft’s plans. If true, knowing that The Shivering Isles, one of thebest open-world DLC expansionsever made, is included in the package could improve the value proposition of anOblivionremaster.
That being said, it’s not unusual for game rereleases to include previously optional content. Even the Game of the Year Deluxe edition ofOblivionitself included all 10 DLC packs. Additionally, fan-made projects like theSkyrim-basedOblivionremakeSkyblivionwill include select DLC items like the Horse Armor and Spell Tomes, though inSkyblivion’s case, the larger expansions will be added after the base project itself is completed and released.
Whenever Microsoft and Bethesda opt to confirm theOblivionremaster, it seems sensible to include as much of the original game’s content as possible, which is better to entice fans to double-dip and attract newcomers. Many ofOblivion’s DLC add-ons are as beloved as anything in the base game itself, and the Shivering Isles in particular shine a light on some of theElder Scrollssetting’s most interesting personalities and sights. The thought of having to pay extra to see those DLCs again in anOblivionremaster’s improved graphical splendor would no doubt sting.
