Summary

Marvel Studios might be gearing up for the cinematic release ofThunderbolts*, but behind the scenes, all of the work is now starting to take place forAvengers: Doomsday. Now that the cast has been officially confirmed, production is underway on what is set to be one of Marvel’s biggest and most ambitious movies to date.

Directed by the Russo Brothers,Avengers: Doomsdayhas all the potential to rival anything that has been done before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it hasn’t been a smooth ride for Marvel to get to this point due to the major changes with Kang and then bringing back Robert Downey Jr, and it appears that those problems show no signs of slowing down.

Kevin Feige has confirmed that filming forAvengers: Doomsdaywill begin today (April 28) in London, England, with the team kickstarting the journey towards its June 08, 2025 release date. However, industry insiderMyTimeToShineHellohas provided a shocking update, as they have reported that while there is a script forAvengers: Doomsday, it is still not done. Even though filming has now commenced for this movie, the script is not as good aswhat Marvel Studios wants it to be, and because of that, they’re going to keep rewriting it every day on set while filming is taking place.

It’s an update that will likely worry many Marvel fans, as the expectations forAvengers: Doomsdayare huge. Not only are people prepared for an epic blockbuster movie, but this also needs to lead intoAvengers: Secret Warsand leave people wanting more. Not having the script done ahead of time for a movie of this scale is a surprise, especially since it was reported back in Januarythat it wasn’t finished, meaning the last several months haven’t led to total progress. While small tweaks are always expected when shooting any film, the fact the script isn’t done could lead to some huge changes being needed.

Avengers: Doomsdayisn’t the only Marvel film undergoing major script problems, either. It was previously revealed thatFiege rejected the first scriptforSpider-Man: Brand New Day, which was then sent back for rewrites, even though filming for that is scheduled for this summer. Marvel is clearly striving for perfection with these blockbuster films, which should hopefully lead to a higher-quality movie. However, the lack of organization for a franchise that is renowned for it is a slight concern.

It takes a lot of effort to put togethera movie likeAvengers: Doomsday, simply due to the number of people involved. The cast is vast, and that’s just focusing on the lead roles that have been announced. They’re all top-level actors who will have other projects lined up that they’re signed on for, and that is why having a script complete ahead of time is so important. If things don’t go to plan, it could become messy, especially if actors have to wrap up and move on to their next job. It gives the feeling thatAvengers: Doomsdayis being patched together rather than as a long-term detailed plan, and that’s why this news is so problematic, as there’s no real room for delays.
