If you’ve ever wished your controller looked like it belonged in aDOOMlevel, or more specifically, like the keycard you frantically searched for while getting swarmed by Imps, Limited Run Games is giving you that oddly specific dream. The CRKD x DOOM NEO S Red Key Card Edition Controller is now available for pre-order, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: a fully functional, modern wireless controller inspired by the iconic red key cards from DOOM and DOOM II.

It’s limited to just 1,000 units, comes with a matching charging dock, and somehow manages to be both collector-friendly and entirely usable. This isn’t just a novelty item, either. It’s built for real gameplay, with compatibility across Nintendo Switch, PC, mobile devices, and smart TVs. It also comes packed with features that make it more than just a prop with buttons. Let’s take a look, shall we?

doom keycard controller on a doom inspired background.

A DOOM-Inspired Design With Real Utility

The entire design is built around one very specific reference: the red key card from the original DOOM games. It’s the kind of collectible that hits immediately for longtime fans - simple, recognizable, and weirdly nostalgic. But under the nostalgia, the NEO S controller is a capable, customizable device. It features Hall Effect thumbsticks to help avoid drift (a feature more controllers should have by default), remappable back buttons, motion controls, turbo function, and both wireless Bluetooth and wired USB-C connectivity. You also get swappable stick tops and a “no deadzone” mode for more responsive input.

The controller ships with a matching charging dock that doubles as a display stand, giving it a proper home when not in use. That’s a nice touch for collectors who actually want to use the controller without leaving it plugged into a USB cable like it’s hanging on for dear life.

The entire package sells for $69.99, which I understand is not cheap, but completely fair when you consider what you’re getting. This isn’t just a paint job slapped on a generic controller. It’s purpose-built by CRKD, who’ve been pushing into the collector-grade hardware space with attention to both form and function.

Smart Extras Under the Hood

There’s also some behind-the-scenes functionality that goes beyond your typical third-party controller. The NEO S integrates with CRKD’s “True Collection System,” which links the controller to a mobile app. Once its paired, you can view its unique product number, see where it ranks in terms of rarity, adjust hardware settings (like trigger sensitivity and vibration strength), and personalize your setup. It’s a small win forcollectors who care about cool Doom stuff, or gamers who just want more granular control.

This isn’t a wide release, though. Only 1,000 units are being made, and once pre-orders close, that’s it. You’ve got until Sunday, May 18 at 11:59 PM ET to place an order. After that, the window shuts and whatever’s been reserved is what gets made. Shipping is expected between October 24 and 31, which gives CRKD enough time to finalize production without the weird delays that sometimes hit niche hardware drops.

This model joins a handful of other stylized NEO S controllers, but the DOOM edition is definitely the most specific, and probably the one that’ll vanish from shelves the fastest.

It’s subtle. It’s practical. And it’s rare enough that if you want one, you probably shouldn’t wait too long.
