In September 2023,Sony raised PlayStation Plus prices across all tiers. The increases—which amounted to approximately 30%—were global in nature, thus also affecting Latin American countries.
A year and a half later, some Latin American markets are being hit with another price hike, whichSony announcedon April 9. The increase will vary by PS Plus tier, ranging from 8.34% to 21.43%. The new prices are scheduled to go into effect on Wednesday, April 16. The price adjustment will affect 16Latin American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.

Most of the Latin American countries affected by the upcoming pricing changes have experienced above-average inflation over the last several years, since Sony last raised PS Plus prices. For instance, as of February 2025, Brazil’s annual inflation rate sits at 5.06%—a notable improvement from 2022 (9.28%), but still above the central bank’s target of 4.83%. Unfavorable inflation trends have already resulted in theBrazilian gaming market being hit with significant price hikesbeyond the PlayStation ecosystem. Meanwhile, Argentina’s 2023 annual inflation rate hit a staggering 211.4% in 2023, and still amounts to 66.9% as of January 2025.
