Summary
AlthoughPokemon TCG Pocket’s latest Shining Revelry set ended up creating a rather definite metagame with powerful decks, there haven’t been too many answers to them over the course of the past couple of weeks. SomePokemon TCG Pocketdecks are different iterations of previous good combinations of cards that performed well, such as Wugtrio Ex using strategies similar to Dragonite to defeat benched critters. Still, one of the single best cards in the game at the moment is Giratina Ex, which can disrupt enemy decks by getting enough Energy to attack very fast on its own. Among them is the Giratina Ex plus Darkrai Ex stall combo, which can be quite annoying, but there’s one underused answer to it.
Pokemon TCG Pocket’s meta made Wugtrio Ex and Dragonitecome back to the forefront precisely due to the high number of bench-sitting critters. Yet, many other decks struggle against this specific combo due to another key component - Druddigon. This critter alone has been a problematic part of the meta for quite some time, and the reason is that it punishes opponents for attacking while having 100 HP to defend itself. However, there is one answer to Druddigon and the Giratina-Darkrai combo that may have flown under the radar, and that’s Weezing.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Players Should Use Weezing Against Meta Decks
Introduced inPokemon TCG Pocket’s Genetic Apex set, Weezing is an often slept-on Pokemon that can be incredibly strong against stall or in off-meta stall decks. This card has the Gas Leak ability that allows it to Poison the opponent’s active Pokemon as long as Weezing itself is in the active spot, and then it can attack for one Darkness Energy with Tackle, dealing 30 damage. On top of this, Weezing is a decent tank on its own, with 110 HP, meaning it can go up to 130 with Giant Cape or inflict 20 damage back to attackers with Rocky Helmet.
Poison here is especially powerful because it deals 10 damage at the end of each turn to the opposing critter, which can wear it down in the long run and help further down the line if players useCyrus inPokemon TCG Pocket. This also has synergies with some great picks in the current meta, such as Clodsire Ex from Shining Revelry or Darkrai Ex itself, as the former deals more damage to Poisoned enemies and the latter works perfectly with a theme of “wearing them down over time” thanks to Nightmare Aura.
With Weezing not even needing to attack to counter meta picks, players can safely play it with Giratina Ex as well, as its ability can only be used in place of attacks with the advantage of getting free Energy.Giratina Ex inPokemon TCG Pocketis very versatile precisely because of this, and Weezing is too, so one could hypothetically play them in non-Psychic, non-Darkness decks and still get value out of them. In the case of Weezing, players can also bounce it back to the hand with Koga for surprise attacks or as a tactical retreat to avoid giving opponents points for the KO.
Why Weezing is Great Into Meta Decks in Pokemon TCGP
There are variousdecks that can use Weezing inPokemon TCGPto great effect, but it truly shines in situations where it can stall out a few turns or attack for cheap while Poison is active, essentially defeating opposing critters slowly but surely. Additionally, Weezing is good in the current meta because its Darkness attack deals 20 extra damage to Giratina Ex, meaning that with Tackle and Gas Leak it’s guaranteed 60 damage in one turn, which is great. It is weak to Fighting, but the main Fighting deck in the meta uses Gallade Ex to deal massive damage to Energy-stacking critters, and a 0-Energy Weezing can still survive a hit from Gallade Ex. As such, fans ofPokemon TCG Pocketshouldn’t sleep on this anti-meta pick, no matter the Energy types of their decks.
