Summary

APokemonandZeldafan has shared a unique crossover card they’ve created for thePokemon TCGgame. ThePokemon TCGcreation gives an interesting glimpse of what it could be like if the two game series released an official crossover collection.

Nintendo games often get the crossover treatment from fans with artistic creations like these. It’s fairly common for fans to imagine the game worlds colliding, as Nintendo has released a number of games that bring together its various franchises, likeSuper Smash Bros. andMario Kart 8 Deluxe. WhilePokemon TCGhasn’t seen any official cards based off of games likeZelda, it’s easy to see why fans could imagine that changing.

One fan of both franchises is JJuniorart, who created thePokemon TCGcrossoverZeldacard. The creation is aPokemon TCGSupporter Card, featuring Link as a Master Trainer. Link is depicted as hisBreath of the Wildincarnation, showing him holding a Master Ball as his Pokemon Honedge floats in the picture behind him. The card, if used in an actual match, would lead to the player’s own Pokemon doing 50 more damage if the opponent’s Pokemon has a Darkness Energy attached to it. A second image shows some alternate poses and alternate Pokemon that Link could have appeared with.

Pokemon Fans Seem Excited For a Crossover

Fans in the comments have shared praise with the fan artist, not only complimenting the execution, but the idea. One suggested that this card could be part of a crossover expansion release, which they dubbed “Universes Beyond.” Another pointed out that the card would work well inPokemon TCG Pocket, which they say is overrun with “dark Darkrais” everywhere, to which the artist replied, stating that was the inspiration behind the card’s effect.

WhilePokemon TCGhas crossed over withPokemon GOin the past, bringing in a completely different franchise entirely seems unlikely to happen in the official game. That hasn’t stopped gamers frommashing upZeldaandPokemon, though. Fans have previously done things like turning Hyrule into a region of aPokemongame, while others have recreated Pokemon battles withinTears of the Kingdomor adjustedPokemontrainer sprites to look likeZeldacharacters.

While anything is possible in the future, for the moment, one of the only official ways to seeZeldaandPokemoncharacters interact is inSuper Smash Bros.It seems unlikely that thePokemon TCGwill seecrossovers like those inMagic: The Gatheringanytime soon, but players will likely keep imagining the possibilities.
