SomePokemon GOplayers starting up the game on April 1 were surprised to discover that there were Poke Balls all over the world map. This particular phenomenon is for aApril Fools' DayPokemon GOevent, and the Poke Balls will vanish once the day ends in a player’s local time. For the day, those who have been in dire need of Poke Balls or select Pokemon may be in luck. Tapping on a Poke Ball can reward the player with either a Pokemon encounter or with select varieties of Poke Balls.

Fans have primarily been positive about the little April Fools' Day surprise. Some have even noted that it would have been a funny choice for the game to have included Jigglypuff among the Poke Balls, referencing the “Jigglypuff seen from above” meme from thePokemonanime. However, the mini-event hasn’t been without hiccups. Numerous players have reported seeing large pink squares appearing on their map instead of the Poke Balls. It sounds as though there’s a texture or model that’s not properly spawning in for these players.

While this event will quickly come to a close, there’s almost always something new to look forward to inPokemon GO. The Tapu Lele Raid Hour will start on April 2, the following day, while the Stunning Styles and Tyrogue Hatch Day events will start later in the week. Outside of the mobile game itself, fans ofPokemonare excited to learn more about the Nintendo Switch 2, which will be fully revealed and detailed in aNintendo Direct on April 2. WithPokemon Legends: Z-Astill slated for the original Nintendo Switch, it’s not clear if there will be anyPokemonnods in the presentation, but recent leaks regardingPokemon’s Generation 10 being a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive will likely get players tuning in regardless.
