Pokemon GO Fest first started in 2017, initially held in Chicago, but eventually spread to multiple parts of the world. Global events also happen annually, as well as the in-person festivities held in multiple cities worldwide.

Scopely, like Niantic, is another American video game publisher and development studio based in California, known for making games likeMonopoly GO.Niantic’s sale for $3.5 billion has worried some fans who are concerned about changes that may be made toPokemon GOand Niantic’s other AR games. However, Scopely has vowed to prioritize player experiences after the sale, easing some concerns from players hoping for less aggressive monetization. Pokemon GO Fest shows no signs of stopping after the purchase goes through, so trainers can still enjoy the annual festivities without worry.
Pokemon GO Fest 2025’s in-person events are set to begin on May 29 in Osaka, Japan, move to Jersey City, USA on June 6, and end in Paris, France on June 15. A global event will also be happening on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29. Several Pokemon are set to exclusively appear in thesePokemon GO Fest locations, each with a different set of Pokemon to catch. Some of the Pokemon appearing in Osaka are fan favorites like Chansey and Snorlax, while Jersey City is set to feature Meowth and Beldum, and Paris will have Sableye and Rhyhorn, with many more appearing in each location. Torkoal, Pachirisu, and Klefki will also be available and are three regional exclusive spawns that players should seek out with incense during the global event.

In addition to the Pokemon exclusively found with incense during the event, new shiny Pokemon will also appear inPokemon GOduring GO Fest. Shiny Carbink and Shiny Frigibax will make their debut, with the Frigibax locked to raids similar to how previous Dragon-type shinies have debuted. Hawulcha will also spawn at all live events, and Fan Rotom will appear in Snapshots. Twolegendary Pokemon fromPokemon Sword and Shield, Zacian and Zamazenta, will also appear in 5-star raids.
Pokemon GOfans in certain parts of the world may have access to a new rewards feature they can utilize in preparation for GO Fest in May.Pokemon GOis testing its GO Passstarting, and can reward players who pay for the deluxe pass with incense, which will be handy for the incense-exclusive Pokemon during GO Fest. Rewards unlocked in the GO Pass will expire on Thursday, May 8, at 10 AM local time, so trainers should make sure to claim their rewards before time is up.
