Overwatch 2’snew Stadium Gameplay mode went live in Season 16, bringing something fresh to the game. In this game mode, players pick from a smaller, refined roster of heroes under the rule of no counter-swapping, and then play shorter rounds to earn money which they use to buy perks and items to enhance their character with new abilities, passives, and more.
However, players who are just getting started with this game mode may find the number of different options quite overwhelming, as there are a number of different abilities, and then 3 different categories (Weapon, Ability, Survivability) that each have 3 sub-categories of abilities you will be able to choose from to progress your build as the match continues. For this reason, you may be looking for some of the best options to get started with as you learn the game. When it comes toSupport hero, Lucio, the bestOverwatch 2Stadium Builds have been outlined in the guide below.
Overwatch Stadium: Best Lucio Builds, Explained
When it comes to Lucio, most players are aware that his healing numbers can be a little bit lackluster in comparison to other heroes due to them operating through an AOE with a slow trickle. However, Lucio more than makes up for this by providing huge utility for his team through his Speed Boost ability. In most cases, Lucio plays the role of an off-healer who supports his team by speed-boosting them in and out of fights, bopping enemies away to create space, and using his Wallride movement to chase down final kills and help secure picks for his team, or peel for an ally.
In Stadium, there are two clear paths that a Lucio player can pick. One such build revolves around buffing his healing capabilities to help him take on more during team fights and reduce Ult. Charge to make a big impact with Sound Barrier. Essentially in this build, you will be looking to heal and peel - pump out high healing to sustain through team fights, counter key abilities and cooldowns with Sound Barrier, and peel for your teammates with yourSpeed Boost, mobility, and Boop.
On the other hand, there is the DPS Lucio build, which drastically enhances both his speed/movement abilities and his primary weapon. This pretty much creates a menace that can harass enemy backlines, displace enemies, and inflict a lot of offensive pressure.
Overwatch Stadium: DPS Lucio Build
DPS Lucio Build - Powers
Round 1: Let’s Bounce- Soundwave has 30% increased knockback and deals 40 bonus damage if the target hits a wall.
Round 3:Reverb -Gain 1 extra charge of Soundwave.
Round 5: Vivace -While Wallriding or airborne, Soundwave cooldown refreshes 25% faster and adds 1 Max Ammo per 1s until you reload.
Round 7: Crowd Pleaser- After using Soundwave, heal all allies affected by [Crossfade] for 200% of [Crossfade] healing.
Vivace and Crowd Pleasure are interchangable. If you need more healing assistance in a particular match, taking Crowd Pleaser first may work, and then if you go to Round 7 you’re able to further buff it by shortening the cooldown to ensure you always have your Boop/Burst heal available.
Essentially, this build works by buffing out your movement speed and significantly improvingthe utility of your boop, as well as buffing the damage of your primary weapon. The ricocheting bullets are crazy when it comes to applying pressure through chokes, as you may bounce them around corners, off walls, and even use them to confirm kills from afar. Often, going all-out and cashing in on just this one item in round 2 is a very solid start that makes this build start to kick off in round 3 and beyond. However, for a slower pace, you can wait until round 3 to unlock this item, but waiting any longer is not recommended unless you have a solid idea of what you want to run in its place.
Your boop gaining an additional charge makes it a huge threat, as well as the additional distance and increased damage when booping them into a wall - you may now consistently displace Tanks, or Wallride into the enemy backline and hit unsuspecting squishies with a vicious double boop off the map, or into a wall. Lastly, as you have a heal burst when using your boop, as well as a shorter cooldown thanks to your second boop charge, you should be able to use this ability every 4-5 seconds to apply consistent pressure, whilst also providing a heal burst for your team each time.
When it comes to items, you want to prioritize anything that improves his primary weapon speed. When paired with the ricochet bullets, the faster they go the easier it is to clean up kills with them. Improving your Ability power (involving soundwave/boop) is also important thanks to it being able to stack with your increased damage on wall hits - making boop quite deadly. However, the key to this build is picking out some ofLucio’sspecialized items - primarily ones that directly buff his boop, movement, or speed. Some of the best options to consider for your build have been outlined below, for each stage of a Stadium match.
For the purpose of helping you find these items in game, each one has been marked with an indicator.(WPN) - Weapon Category, (ABL) - Ability, (SURV) - Survival. Some Items have been mentioned in multiple stages, as depending on your preferences, the amount of currency you have available, or what is ongoing in the match, you may choose to make big impulsive buys early to create a steep improvement in the early-mid game, or take a more steady improvement approach for mid-late game.
Overwatch Stadium: Heal-Buffed Lucio Build
Heal-Buffed Lucio Build - Powers
Round 1: Megaphone- +20% Amp it Up duration while Amp it Up is active. Crossfade radius is increased by 150%.
Round 3:Beat Drop –20% Ult Charge cost, landing on an enemy with Sound Barrier deals up to 200 damage.
Round 5: Crowd Pleaser- After using Soundwave, heal all allies affected by [Crossfade] for 200% of [Crossfade] healing.
Round 7: Mixtape- After switching to Healing Boost, Crossfade heals for 50% of Crossfade healing for every 1s Speed Boost was active.
This build revolves around significantly buffing Lucio’s healing output by using your Powers to improve his healing duration and numbers, as well as reduce cooldowns andUlt. Charge costs. Through this build, Lucio will essentially be farming Sound Barrier to use for each team fight. As this is a huge Ultimate that can negate the effects of many others and make all the difference in surviving and winning a team fight (and therefore round), this build essentially maximizes Lucio’s ‘Support’ role by offering now very solid healing, consistent utility through Speed Boost, and huge peel potential through your boop (which also now provides a healing boost).
Items for this build all point towards anything that makes improvements on your ability power, or reduces your cooldowns. This enables you to cycle your abilities much more frequently, and easily farm Sound Barrier with surprising speed.
