Summary

In theOne Punch Manmanga, the top S-rank hero, Blast, is shown to be incredibly strong and deserving of his title. He was the only character able to actively help during Saitama and Cosmic Garou’s clash. Blast also seemed to know much information that has yet to be revealed. In the latest chapters in the manga, fans are treated to his fight against his former partner known as Empty Void.

We have so far not seen Blast lose in a fight, leading many fans to speculate exactly what the upper limits of his power are and how he would actually fare Empty Void without any interference. While it’s hard to imagine Blast losing to a villain, Empty Void’s powers make the task of defeating him seem insurmountable. This article will try to examine just who the stronger of these twoOne Punch Manpowerhouses is.

Blast’s Preparation

The S-Rank Hero Was Waiting for This Fight

Blast reveals during their latest clashin theOne Punch Manmangathat he had been preparing for Empty Void’s return for 15 years. In that time, he has apparently learned much about how the powers of “God” work and set up countermeasures to stop them.

“The light of divine power… is useless against me.” -Blast when negating Empty Void’s energy orbs.

empty void manga

Blast had acquired a power of darkness that is thought to counteract “God." He then used this power to both restrain Empty Void and defend against his divine light orbs. However, his efforts he prepared to take down his former partner were nullified, forcing the fight between them to continue.

Even without his countermeasures against Empty Void, he could hold his own. Previously in the series, Blast showed an impressive amount of power in his ability to redirect theenergy emitted by cosmic Garouaway from the Earth. He was also holding back immensely against Empty Void in this fight, trying his best to restrain himself and not kill him so he could turn him back to normal. All this adds up to show that Blast is at least on Empty Void’s level even when fighting with restraint.

The Threat of Empty Void

Powers That Seem to Defy Logic

Although it’s unclear how much of Empty Void’s power is merely a boast, he claims his dimensional blade attack can cleave space from a higher dimension and exceed the limits of causality. He also possesses not only the power of “God” but also the remnants of Cosmic Garou’s power, which he said contains a way to defy the entity. While clashing with Blast in Chapter 208, he confirms that it was his absorption of Garou’s divine power that allowed him todefy the S-rank hero’s countermeasures against him.

“It seems he was a failed creation. Granted power by God, while secretly holding a dark nature that defies it.” Empty Void speaking about Garou.

During the fight against Blast, he managed to deal heavy damage to the hero. Empty Void was even able to cut off Blast’s hand at one point in the fight, proving that he is a genuine threat to the #1 S-rank hero.

Blast Versus Void

Who is Ultimately Stronger?

While Empty Void prepares to deliver a final dimension slash that looks like it would be the end of Blast,Saitama catches both bladeswith his bare hands and pulls Empty Void back to Earth from his higher dimension. However, assuming that Saitama or any of the others present had not interfered, who would have won in the contest between Empty Void and Blast?

Although Empty Void showed an incomprehensible higher-dimensional power that has the potential to kill Blast, it still feels likeBlast is ultimately the stronger character. Not only is Blast holding back during their fight to “cure” Empty Void, but the narrative also still holds back on revealing aspects of Blast for the audience. Based on what the story has implied so far, it seems likely that the #1 S-rank hero has more abilities at his disposal that he isn’t using for the sake of saving his former friend.

In theOne Punch Manseries, Blast also plays an information game with the entity known as “God.” This motivates him to hide his powers until he’s ready for a final confrontation with the powerful force. While there isn’t currently definitive proof of which is the more powerful of the two, it seems more likely that Blast is the stronger character. He has more up his sleeve than he has shown, meaning the S-rank hero is likelier to come out on top in a no-holds-barred show of strength.
