Buggy is one of the most important characters inOne Piece’sfinal saga. Although his comedic nature and lack of strength might often make him even insignificant, Oda has, time and again, shown fans that Buggy is incredibly important in the grand scheme of things, and that he will continue to fail upwards.
He went from being a no-name pirate in the East Blue,all the way to becoming a Shichibukaiafter the events of Marineford, and finally, becoming a Yonko in the New World recently. Some might consider it Buggy’s peak, but he will likely go even beyond, becoming what can be considered a God in the world ofOne Piece.
How Luffy Became A God In One Piece
When it comes to the Gods of theOne Pieceworld, fans know that there is absolutely no shortage there. There are characters like Enel, who openly call themself God,and other deities like Nika that have existed in the past, such as Nika, in the world. At the same time, there are other Gods, such as the Forest God, the Earth God, and even the Sea God. Then, there are also the likes of the Celestial Dragons to consider, who openly call themselves the Gods of the world and truly believe that they’re above all else. It goes without saying that the Gods of the One Piece world are quite unique, but they exist in different forms. As such, there existing more Gods in the future shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

In the Wano Country arc, Luffy surprised everyone by awakening the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and becoming a God. With his Nika transformation, Luffy turned into the warrior of liberation, strong enough to fight and beat even the likes of Kaido in battle. Just like Luffy, there are other characters who can rise to Godhood, although in different ways. Buggy, the man known as the Genius Jester, is most certainly one of them.

Buggy Has His Own Cult In The World Of One Piece
The idea of Buggy attaining Godhood inOne Pieceisn’t one that’s too farfetched. Some might assume that this idea simply comes fromhim awakening his Devil Fruit, like Luffy, but that’s not necessarily the case. Buggy, just like Luffy, is a character who attracts people. From the East Blue, all the way to the New World, he’s attracted all sorts of followers and he’s worshipped by many of them already. In Dressrosa, fans saw how Usopp essentially became a God and came to be worshipped. This was without Usopp having any God Fruit. Something very similar will soon happen with Buggy too. After all, Buggy cannot become the Pirate King, yet he always wins in the end.

In the East Blue Saga, when Luffy declared to Buggy that he would become the Pirate King, his response was that if Luffy were to become the Pirate King, then he would become God itself. Clearly, this subtle piece of foreshadowing, which only served as comedic relief in Orange Town, can serve as a basis for something much greater.
Buggy’s followers worship him already. If, during the Final War, when the world starts sinking,Buggy is able to save people, help them to safety, and make it appear that he’s fighting for a just cause, there is absolutely no denying the fact that he will be seen as a God. Buggy might not be destined for theOne Piece, but he will surely claim something even higher, and that is Godhood in theOne Pieceworld.
Right now,the world believes the Celestial Dragons to be Gods, but eventually, everyone will come to see Buggy as God, only this God will be just and actually care enough to save them in their eyes.
The Final Saga ofOne Piecewill uncover all sorts of exciting events, and fans hope that Buggy’s Rise to Godhood will be one of them.
