Summary
The Straw Hats are more than just a pirate crew. They are a family, and every single one of them looks out for the other. The crew began their adventures in East Blue with five members, and since then they have added five more to their ranks.
Each crew member comes from a different background, but they have one thing in common, and that’s their loyalty to their captain, Monkey D. Luffy. The crew has been through many trials and tribulations together, and they’ve come out on top because of their oneness. Luffy’s crewmates joined at different times and under different circumstances, soOne Piecefans often wonder which Straw Hat is most loyal to their captain.
Is Zoro The Most Loyal Straw Hat?
A large portion of the fanbasebelieves that Roronoa Zoro is the mostloyal Straw Hat. The most common reason given in such debates is that Zoro was the first person to believe in Luffy. Also, he was the first individual to be recruited by Luffy. Another reason is that Zoro offered his life to Kuma on Thriller Bark to save Luffy. Last but not least, Zoro begged Mihawk to train him as he wanted to get strong to help Luffy accomplish his goal.
While these are all legitimate reasons, it does not mean that Zoro supplants the rest in terms of loyalty. In fact, it is ridiculous to even claim that the Straw Hats have varying amounts of loyalty to Luffy. The truth is that every single crew member is faithful to their captain. So, there is no such thing as Zoro having 90% loyalty while Sanji has just 40%.
The Entire Crew Would Lay Down Their Lives For Luffy
The Straw Hats are devoted to Luffy, and each one will gladly sacrifice their personal goals for their captain’s ambition. For instance, Sanji gave up his freedom and dream by heading to Whole Cake Island with Capone Bege. He did not want Luffy or any other crew member to suffer because of him. Robin also left the crew for a similar reason. She did not want Luffy or herfriends to be targeted by CP9.
Nami’s big moment was in the Wano Country arc, where she claimed that Luffy would become the King of the Pirates. What makes this statement even more amazing is that she gave it after sustaining Ulti’s attack on her cranium. For a person who is normally considered a coward to say it at such a delicate time speaks volumes.
Usopp is often criticized and calledthe least loyal Straw Hat because he left the crew over an argument over the future of the Going Merry. However, he too has proven that his allegiance lies with Luffy. When Miss Merry Christmas made fun of Luffy’s dream, Usopp grew bewildered and called her out. Usopp also trained rigorously with Heracles so that he could help his captain.
Even The Newer Members Adore Luffy
Brook is highly respectful towards Luffy, and he is a staunch believer in his captain’s strength. Even when standing before Big Mom, a Yonko, Brook did falter andstole the Poneglyph rubbing forhis captain. Jimbei did something similar. Back on Fish-Man Island, Luffy offered Jimbei to join his crew, but the latter didn’t accept. In the Whole Cake Island arc, Jimbei stood before an enraged Big Mom and told the Yonko about his decision to leave the crew and join the Straw Hat Pirates.
There’s no way a man that intends to join the crew of the future Pirate King will cower at a mere Yonko. —Jimbei to Big Mom
This infuriated Big Mom, and she decided to use her Devil Fruit power, but it had no effect as Jimbei was not afraid. He told Big Mom that he had no reason to be afraid of a mere Yonko, as he was joining the crew of the future Pirate King. Franky and Chopper are fiercely loyal to Luffy. Franky has stood before figures like Saint Jaygarcia Saturnand Big Mom, without a modicum offear. There are many other instances where Luffy’s friends have proven their loyalty. So, fans should remember that all Straw Hats are equally loyal to Luffy.
