Summary

One Piecehas stood the test of time for long and continues strong even now,in the Final Saga. Having continued serialization for 27 years, it is no surprise thatOne Pieceis now, slowly but steadily, edging closer to its end. In fact, Oda previously told the fans that he wanted to end the story as soon as he could, and according to his calculations, this would’ve taken him about 3 years.

Of course, these statements have been proven wrong already since and fans know that the story won’t end for a while. That said One Piece is still ending eventually, and if nothing else gives fans that feeling, perhaps the fact that Oda already has plans for the end do the story will do so. Being in this critical stage, it is no surprise to know that Oda has most of the big elements of the Final Saga planned already, and all of this was revealed by him during his interview with Gosho Aoyama, the author of Detective Conan.

One Piece Has Entered Its Final Saga

Long ago, Oda had already told the fans that after the end of Wano, the ending of One Piece would be in sight. In the Wano arc, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates took what can be described as their biggest step as pirates as they faced off against and defeated the members of the Beast Pirates. Luffy was the one who took on Kaido in battle, and at the end of things, it was Kaido who lost, while Luffy was declared the winner. Having unlocked Gear 5 and gained a mystery of his Haki not so long ago, Luffy was not an elite pirate and it wasn’t a shock to know that the he works claim the position of one ofthe new Yonko of the Sea.

From here onwards, I’ll draw it all. The mysteries of the world! — Oda on starting the Final Saga

As the story progressed fans explored a new saga, which Oda calls the Final Saga. Time and again, Oda has reiterated that the final saga is where the most important characters will gather and that this is the part of the story that he is itching to draw the most. With that Egghead arc,One Piecefinally began its last Saga, and as a result, fans saw Oda take fresh steps to amp up the intensity of the arc. Egghead was a massive success, but it was nothing compared to what Elbaf is proving to be right now, and as One Piece goes deeper into the Final Saga, fans will definitely get to see bigger reveals. In fact, according to Oda, he’s already set up the events of the last One Piece chapter as well, which may be very exciting for some readers.

Oda Has The Final Chapter Of The Story Ready

The Draft For the Final Chapter Has Been in Oda’s Mind For Years

Given that Oda has entered the final saga, it is no surprise to know that most of the elements ofOne Piecethat Oda is illustrating in this part of the story are pre-planned. In fact, Oda has also planned the last chapter ofOne Piecealready. This might sound unbelievable to some One Piece fans, but it is simply the truth. Here’s what Oda said during his interviewwith Gosho Aoyama:

Oda: I’ve always pictured what the final chapter of ‘ONE PIECE’ would be like, though from time to time, the situation surrounding it changes. It will still be over whenever the One Piece is found in the series, haha. Anyway, this next arc is the final one. — Eiichiro Oda

Based on Oda’s own words, he’s had the endings of One Piece planned for many years now. The only things that he changes are small tweaks here and there. Oda still believes that One Piece will end after Luffy finds the grand treasure and the biggest questions of the world will finally be answered, but that isn’t anywhere close at the moment.
