Gaban proved himself to be an absolute monster in combat. In his prime, he was said to be equal to the likes of Rayleigh and Roger, and renowned all over the world as the Mountain Eater.

Even in his old age, Gaban was shown to be a monster, as he had a friendly spar with Luffy in Aurust Castle to test him. In a short stint, Gaban completely overwhelmed Luffy, and even forced him to go Gear 5. Clearly, Scopper Gaban is still very powerful, and fans know that more of his powers will be showcased over the next few chapters, as he faces off against the Holy Knights.
Gaban’s Two Big Roles In The Elbaf Arc Of One Piece
Undoubtedly,Scopper Gaban has an absolutely massive role to play in the Elbaf arcofOne Piece, and based on our predictions, Gaban has two main roles to play here. Oda has carefully introduced Scopper Gaban in Elbaf, something that he has been planning to do since the beginning of the post-timeskip of the story. Now is the time for him to show his true worth, and it’ll happen in two ways.
Gaban Will Expose The Weakness Of the Holy Knights' Regeneration Powers
The very first thing that Oda will have Scopper Gaban do is expose the weakness of the Holy Knights. As fans know, the Holy Knights are monstrously powerful, and on top of that, they also have Incredible regeneration. Despite having their bodies blown up, the Holy Knights can simply regenerate. This regeneration ability was also shown by the Five Elders in Egghead. Clearly, this power has been bestowed upon them by none other than Imu, and back in Egghead, not even Luffy could counter it. Gaban, being the legend that he is, will showcase his experience and wisdom and expose the weakness of the Holy Knights.

This means thatwhen Scopper Gaban goes into action, he will show everyone how to counter the regeneration factor of the Elders and the Holy Knights. Most likely, this will require one to have Conqueror’s Haki, and given that Gaban has already shown this power, it shouldn’t be too hard for him. Still, it likely utilizes a specific application of Conqueror’s Haki that Luffy doesn’t know yet, since he was unable to do damage to the Elders in Egghead. Teaching Luffy and the crew the weakness of the Government monsters is going to be his first major role.

He already asked Luffy to meet him at the end of the battle in Elbaf, which means that once everything is done and dusted, Luffy and the crew will come across the biggest secret of the last Road Poneglyph, thanks to Scopper Gaban. This also confirmsthat Scopper Gaban won’t die in Elbaf, and that he will be the one to finally guide Luffy to the last destination, Laugh Tale, or perhaps its guardian, Red Hair Shanks.
