Summary

One Piece has a vast cast of characters, and almost all of them are unique in one way or another. This is due to the fact that Eiichiro Oda has meticulously planned the role that each individual plays in the story.

In certain cases, the characters have a solid reputation, but they never quite live up to it. The reputation of these One Piece characters tricked fans into believing that they were destined for greatness. Unfortunately, that never came to pass.

Basil Hawkins One PIece

7Eustass Kid

Never Lived Up To His Reputation

Eustass Kid was introduced in the Sabaody Archipelago arc along with the other Supernovas. At the time of his introduction, Kid had a bounty of 315 million berries, the highest within the group. Naturally, it raised the expectations of fans, who began to think highly of Eustass Kid.

Unfortunately, Kid never quite lived up to the standards. Not long after entering the New World, Kid ended up losing his left arm in a fight with the Red Hair Pirates. He was humiliated by Kaido, who kept him as a prisoner. The fight against Big Mom was the highlight of Kid’s career, and even then he needed help from Trafalgar Law to get the job done. Following his departure from Wano, Kid was beaten by Shanks, who took the copies of Road Poneglyphs with him. For a pirate touted to be Luffy’s rival, Kid was a huge disappointment.

6Basil Hawkins

Ended Up Becoming Kaido’s Pawn

Basil Hawkins was the captain of the Hawkins Pirates and one of themembers of the Worst Generation. Introduced before the timeskip, Hawkins boasted a bounty of 249 million berries, which was among the highest known figures at the time.

Hawkins possessed a Devil Fruit with an interesting concept, and many fans believed that he would go on to become a famed pirate, but that never came to pass. At one point, Hawkins joined the Beasts Pirates and became a Headliner. He was involved in the Wano Country arc but failed to leave his mark. He even failed to get the better of Killer and ended up being mowed down by his fellow Supernova.

One Piece - Smoker Turning into Smoke

5Jack

1 Billion Pirate Who Failed To Beat Almost Everyone

Jack was one of the All-Stars of the Beasts Pirates. From an early age, Jack was exposed to fighting, which helped him gain plenty of experience. When Jack debuted in One Piece, there was a great degree of hype around them, especiallysince he had a bounty of 1 billionberries and an Ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit.

However, he never quite got going. He failed to beat Inuarashi and Nekomamushi in Zou, so he used Caesar’s weapon to subjugate them. In Wano, Jack failed to make an impact again. He was beaten in all of his encounters.

Smoothie Drinking A Freshly Squeezed Victim In One Piece

4Smoker

No Longer Strikes Fear Into The Hearts of Pirates

Smoker is a Marine Vice Admiral and one of the few recurring characters in One Piece. Unlike mosthigh-level Marines, Smoker has anormal sense of justice. He cares about the well-being of civilians and will do anything in his power to protect them.

There is no denying that Smoker is an excellent character, but he didn’t quite live up to the reputation that he established for himself.

Who’s Who holding a dagger

Back in the Loguetown arc, Smoker was genuinely a fearsome opponent. But, as the series has gone on, his reputation has waned. Smoker is nowhere near Luffy’s level or any other elite fighter, as a matter of fact. Fortunately, he still has some time left to salvage it.

3Charlotte Smoothie

Most Useless Yonko Commander

Few characters have disappointed fans as much as Charlotte Smoothie. Despite being the daughter of Big Mom and one of the Sweet Commanders, Smoothie was among the most disappointing characters in One Piece.

She was a passenger for the majority of the Whole Cake Island arc. Smoothie’s contributions were lower than those of Katakuri, Cracker, and some of the lower-ranked characters. Fans' hopes were rekindled when Smoothie traveled to Wano, but they were letdown once again when she barely did anything of significance.

Vinsmoke Judge crying - One Piece

2Who’s Who

Couldn’t Back Up His Big Talk

Who’s Who was a Tobi Roppo who served under Kaido. Prior to his life as a pirate, Who’s Whoserved in the CP9 but had toto break out of prison after he failed to protect the Gomu Gomu no Mi from Shanks.

Who’s Who was introduced in the Wano Country arc, and at the time, he came off as a powerful individual. However, it didn’t take long for this illusion to shatter. As a former CP9 member and a Tobi Roppo, fans were hoping that Who’s Who would put up a good fight against Jimbei, but it wasn’t meant to be. The Straw Hat ended the fight with a single attack, which proved that Who’s Who was all talk.

As the leader of one of the most efficient mercenary groups, one would expect Judge to be a decent fighter. But he was nothing of the sort. Judge was a coward who sacrificed his son to move up in society. When facing the possibility of dying, Judge immediately started crying.
