Summary
On April 26, Costco announced that aNintendo Switch 2bundle, includingMario Kart Worldand a 12-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online with the Expansion Pack upgrade, would be available at various US locations. However, shopping at Costco requires an annual membership, and itsSwitch 2bundle will not be available at US stores until June 5.
The news of the Costco bundle came days after other retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Best Buy took pre-orders for the Switch 2 system. However, the Switch 2 pre-order window quickly devolved into chaos, as some users were greeted with errors, queues, and issues that prevented them from completing a purchase. However, other users eventually secured a pre-order via Walmart and Best Buy online, while GameStop’s in-person method was mostly successful. As of this writing, Switch 2 pre-orders remain sold out, though other waves will be posted online at GameStop and Walmart as canceled pre-orders are returned, and bot orders are snuffed out.
Though the Switch 2 will not be available for several weeks, one retailer will offer its members a tempting offer. According to Wario64 on social media, wholesale retailer Costco will offer a Switch 2 bundle that includes the digital version ofthe highly anticipatedMario Kart Worldand a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online membership with the Expansion Pack upgrade. The Costco Switch 2 bundle is on sale starting June 5 and is unavailable for pre-order. The Switch 2 bundle is also exclusive to Costco stores in the US and is only available to customers with a Costco membership.
Costco Will Offer Members A Valuable Switch 2 Bundle Starting June 5
Costco’s annual memberships start at $65 for the Gold Star tier and $130 for the Executive membership. A Costco membership includes two membership cards, meaning customers can offer the extra card to a friend or family member looking to buy the Switch 2Mario Kart Worldbundle. However, the Costco Switch 2 bundleis limited to one purchase per membership, though this limit is reset after seven days.
Although no price for the bundle was listed by Costco, the Switch 2Mario Kart Worldset andthe Switch Online membership with the Expansion Packusually cost $499.99 and $49.99, respectively, for a combined price of $549.98 before taxes and fees. Wario64 speculated that a $10 discount could be applied to entice Costco members, which would bring the combined price down to $539.
Withseveral million Switch 2 units planned for the June 5 launch, a retailer bundle may be a more consistent way to get Nintendo’s next console. It remains to be seen what price Costco will set for its Switch 2 bundle.
