A brand-new clip for an upcoming moment fromThe Last of UsSeason 2 teases one of the game’s most dreaded scenes and fans are beside themselves with panic. Season one’s premiere kick-started the returning series by introducing viewers to Ellie and Joel’s new home in Jackson, and also how their relationship has soured since fans last saw them. Not only has Ellie now taken up combat lessons and sniping training from Tommy, but the 19-year-old has a new love interest inThe Last of Usseason 2, too.
A much older Joel is back doing what he did before the outbreak and helping out with construction work in Jackson’s town. However, guilt and worry have very obviously taken their toll on the hardened survivor ashe now seeks out therapy from Gail, who is helping him navigate his strained relationship with Ellie. Fans are also introduced to a very angry Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever, who is hell-bent on finding Joel for his actions at the Firefly hospital and wants to kill him “slowly”, setting up her narrative perfectly as she and others head off on a mission to track him down. Now, as Season 2 gets underway and the episodes begin to roll in, unraveling its dark and twisted plotline, a new teaser clip hints at one of the game’s most disturbing and heartbreaking moments.
New The Last of Us Season 2 Footage Teases Golf Club, a Panicked Joel and Infected Horde
According toHBO’s newestThe Last of UsSeason 2 teaser, the streaming network is seemingly warning fans that one of the worst moments from the Naughty Dog game is fast approaching.Even though the clip is fairly short in length, there’s so much to unpack that includesinfected hordes storming the fences of Jackson, Abby watching the events in the town unfold, a worried Joel who isn’t answering his radio, and, the most important part, Abby taking a golf club from a caddy bag. It’s truly a heart-pumping sequence of events that are rolled into an intense 11-second clip, but the part that stands out the most is that golf club.
For those who have no ideawhat the golf club has to do with anything, you won’t find any spoilers here, but let’s just say, it has a lot to do with Abby’s thirst for revenge. InThe Last of Us Part 2, this particular moment is pivotal to the game and the future actions of Ellie, Tommy and Abby, as well as many other characters. For fans of the game, this is the moment that they have been dreading the most, but, on the other hand, it’s pretty cool to see that Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have decided to keep this shocking moment in Season 2, as it certainly was its most controversial whenPart 2released.
On Reddit, fans who have seen the footage are already freaking out about what’s in store. In the comment section of the post showing off the trailer, one fan used a cat hiding behind a wall GIF with the words “Sunday Scaries” to express their terror, while another said, “I actually can’t do this.” One fan said that they think viewers will react tothatscene like they did to The Red Wedding or Ned getting beheaded inGame of Thrones. Whichever way people will react, players of the sequel know that they have a lot coming for them in the form of sadness, anger, and shock, but here’s hoping that they behave a lot better to the show’s characters than howgamers behaved to Laura Bailey, who played Abby inPart 2.
