Witcher Fans Discuss Liam Hemsworth’s Appearance as Geralt for Season 5
According toRedanian Intelligence, Liam Hemsworth is currentlyfilming in England for Season 5 of Netflix’sThe Witcher,and the site’s photographer has managed to get a couple of sneaky shots of the star in between takes, where he will be yet again jumping into the well-worn boots of Geralt of Rivia. Redanian mentions that it was tricky to get the snaps of Hemsworth since he uses body doubles quite often, but finally, a happy-looking Hemsworth was captured as he wore a new sword with a red and gold hilt.
Given that so manyfans of the series were upset to hear that Cavill would be stepping down from his role as Geraltand that season 3 would be his last appearance, opinions have slightly changed since then, with some now believing that Hemsworth may indeed be the right choice after all. In Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, Geralt of Rivia is described as having a more lean and athletic build, where he prioritizes speed and agility over brute force. After seeing Hemsworth’s new images for season 5, some have stated thatThe Hunger Gamesstar fits this description better than Cavill did in previous seasons.
“I actually think he fits book Geralt’s description a bit better than Henry,” stated one fan on Twtter/X under Redanian Intelligence’s post, while another commentor said that “this actually looks more like book-geralt to me. Henry’s Geralt looked good most of the time, yes, but very different from how he is described in the books - this version still looks muscular, but slightly thinner, like in the books!” While there are definitely some hot takes about Liam’s appearance as Geralt scattered all over the internet, it does seem like they may have a point, at the very least, in regard to Geralt’s physique fromAndrzej Sapkowski’s works.
Filming ofThe Witcherseason 4 was finalized in October 2024, and the show is expected to be released in the second half of 2025, with a likely premiere date of late summer/early fall.
