First Details of Project Impact Revealed
WithThe Ascentbeing an isometric twin-stick shooter, some may assume that Neon Giant’s next game would follow suit. However, the studio’s core staff have instead reverted to what Frick described as their ‘bread and butter’, a first-person game. With years of combined experience in the genre, it seems to be a smart move that will allow Neon Giant to flex its creative muscles while utilizing the staff’s key strengths. Frick said,
'' It’s first person, with a similar futuristic Cyberpunk setting to whatThe Ascenthad. We’re actually going back to where we feel very confident as the team has lots of experience with first-person games. The ambition and the aim are that this game is going to be a reference game. It’s going to be in every conversation when someone else wants to make a game like this.''
The World Itself Will Be a Big Focus in Project Impact
Those are strong words from Frick, underlining how high the team is setting the bar for Project Impact. Berg went even further by highlighting how important the world itself will be to the game. Player agency will be one of the key components of Project Impact, with the team pushing to make ahighly interactive environmentfor players. Berg continued that, as more details start to come through about it, the project’s ambition may surprise people in the best possible way. He explained,
‘‘We have the confidence to experiment and have fun and really push technology as we move into first person. So I think people will be quite amazed at what they’ll be playing once this is out and once we start showing more, it’s a huge step forward for the studio. The Ascentwas a rather ambitious project for the team. But this is a lot more ambitious. So we think people will be very surprised, in a good way, once we share more about it.’’
