Hashirama Senju was born during the Warring States Era and this time period existed before the Shinobi villages were a thing. Having lost their kid brothers to war, Hashirama and Madara both swore to create a place where they would protect the children from war and prevent it altogether. Although wars couldn’t be fully stopped in Hashirama’s lifetime, fans know that he made great progress by creating Konoha, and at the same time, fans also know that he had acquired tremendous strength by this point in time. He was strong enough to rival Madara Uchiha and defeat him.

He might not have lived long after, but his strength was absolutely majestic and goes to show why Hashirama was remembered even years after his death. Very shinobi, if any at all, have ever reached the same level of strength as Hashirama Senju, but Kishimoto has chosen to highlight the select few who did.

After Hashirama’s death, few shinobi were able to reach the same level of power as him. However, some eventually made great progress. For instance, it is known that the Third Hokage was called the God of Shinobi as well, and his strength is said to be the greatest among the Hokage during his prime days by many. Unfortunately, fans never saw him fight in his prime. Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, was confirmed by Kishimoto himself to be a ninja on the same level as Hashirama Senju through Kurama, which shows that he reached a very high level too.

The Next Generation Surpassed The Old One
But, when it comes to those who surpassed him, there are only a handful. Those who attained the power of the Six Paths, such as Obito Uchiha, Madara Uchiha, Naruto Uzumaki,and Sasuke Uchiha, all went beyond Hashirama’s powerby many times. Realistically speaking, Hashirama was absolutely no match for them. There is also Might Guy, who, in his 8th Gate, was gat superior to Hashirama, and of course, Kakashi for a brief moment, with his twin Mangekyo Sharingan and Six Paths chakra. Other than these characters, none have come close to Hashirama Senju, which just goes to show that what he achieved in his life as a ninja was out of the ordinary.
