Summary

Minecrafthas released a snapshot so players can playtest the changes planned for leashes in the near future. Players have an extensive set of tools at their disposal inMinecraft, and each one has a specific purpose and can be extremely useful for certain tasks. When it comes to gathering animals and certain mobs, players can grab a leash and drag them along to wherever they please. Once they reach their destination, they can tie them to a fence, place them in a pen, or do whatever they see fit.

While there is aleash recipe inMinecraft, oftentimes players take the item from Wandering Traders. To make a leash, gamers need to get Strings and a Slime Ball. In the case of Wandering Traders, they only need to separate the merchant from the llamas for the leash to drop, allowing players to pick it up and keep it for themselves. On top of this, since the Wandering Trader always has two llamas, gamers can collect up to two leashes every time the NPC spawns near their base.

Even though the leash has always been a useful tool for players to keep in their inventory, there is always room for improvement, and that is what the developers have done in the latestMinecraftsnapshot. Players who havesnapshots enabled inMinecraft: Java Editioncan test the most recent changes made to the leash. With the snapshot, the lead can be used to leash together several mobs and tie them to boats. Additionally, players can also borrow a lead from a Wandering Merchant and remove leads using Shears, which is particularly useful for gamers who’ve already tied mobs together and don’t want to unleash them all at once.

These changes have beenmade withMinecraftmultiplayer save files in mind, and features have been implemented to verify that gamers don’t tie up their friends or steal their leads, or the mob on the other side of the knot. While it may sound like simple fun, it could easily cause chaos.

Lastly, several of these interactions have been paired with the Crouch button to add functionality. If players crouch before untying a knot, the leash will automatically be attached to them as soon as the knot is undone. On top of this, gamers can crouch while tying mobs together to prevent being tied to themselves. This way, gamers can lure one of the mobs - for example, luring a pig with a carrot- and easily lead everyone attached to the leash back to base.
