Summary
The upcoming happy ghast has only recently entered experimental versions ofMinecraft, but one player has quickly discovered a simple elevator design made possible thanks to the new mob.Minecraftfans have shared a few surprising uses for the happy ghast, although the mob was already unprecedented in its use as a handy aerial platform that can be helpful for builders playing in survival mode.
First revealedduring the Minecraft LIVE eventearlier this year, the happy ghast is an adorable new mob that will be coming to the game in a content drop that’s planned to release in June. Players will be able to introduce these helpful creatures to theirMinecraftworlds by first collecting the new dried ghast blocks from the Nether, or by crafting them manually. These blocks can then be returned to the Overworld and placed in water, where they’ll need to remain for a few in-game days to hydrate. Once this process is complete, the dried ghast will become a cheerful baby ghastling, which can then be fed snowballs to be raised into an adult happy ghast.
Happy ghasts were immediately met with a ton of love from fans, partly thanks to their cute designs and their ability to carry players through the skies of their worlds. A fan known as kenzphil_1 recently pointed out an unexpected use for the happy ghast beyond its ability to serve as a mobile building platform, demonstrating that the mob can actually be used to create a simple elevator. This is largely thanks to the fact that if a happy ghast is kept within an enclosed enough space, it loses the ability to move by itself - a behavior that has been exploited by otherMinecraftfans todevelop variousprojects centered around the happy ghast.
Minecraft’s Happy Ghasts Have a Ton of Unexpected Uses
This allows players to trap a happy ghast in a vertical shaft and mount it to either ascend or descend vertically, while being able to stop at any platform along the way. Although definitely inhumane, this does represent one of the easiest-to-use and most convenientelevator designs fans are able to put together inMinecraft.
AnotherMinecraftplayer also discovered a way to exploit happy ghastsin an awesome train design, further demonstrating that the mob is unusually versatile in its use as a transportation method. Despite all the neat discoveries fans have made regarding the happy ghasts so far, it’s worth remembering that the mob currently only exists in the game’s experimental version, and gameplay changes and bug fixes may be implemented before their official introduction to the game. This means that some exploits like this one may not be viable in the future.
