It’s a dangerous world inMetro 2033: Redux, andplayers need a lot of ammo to survive it. Buying ammo isn’t the same as buying ammo in other games, however, as it requires players to trade one ammo type for another. With all the numbers at ammo traders and options for trading,it can be a bit confusing.

Ammo, especially powerful ammo, is scarce inMetro 2033: Redux. Everyone wants to get their hands onMilitary-Grade Ammo, but since it’s a type that’s typically found on the surface instead of the relative safety of the metro tunnels, it’s not easy to acquire. Because of that, it’s becomea type of currencyfor those living in the tunnels. This means that playersmust use Military-Grade Ammoto purchase other types of ammo for their weapons. It’s also used to buy consumables and other weapons.

How Does Ammo Trading Work in Metro 2033: Redux

InMetro 2033: Redux, players must look for a special type of ammo called Military-Grade Ammo or Rounds. This type of ammo isn’t somethingthat players can use with their weapons. Rather, it’s a currency they can use to buy everything from actual ammo for their weapons to consumables like medkits and throwing knives.

Military-Grade Ammo is typically plentiful throughout the world, unlessplayers are doing a Hardcore playthrough. In that mode, basically everything is more scarce. In normal mode, however, players can find Military-Grade Ammo in several ways. These include:

Whenever players see a corpse, they should take the time to loot it. Aside from sometimes finding regular ammo and Military-Grade Ammo, players can also find other helpful resourceslike medkits and mask filters.

Throughout the world, there are alsoRanger stashes. These are typically marked by a picture of a person in a gas mask sprayed onto some wall or surface. If players see that mark, they know a Ranger stash is hidden nearby. These stashes tend to have a lot of resources, including Military-Grade Ammo.

Buying Ammo in Metro 2033 Redux

AlthoughMetro 2033: Reduxhasa closed world, there arelots of secretsand small side quests for players to enjoy. One of those side quests is finding keys and their respective safes. If a player finds a safe or key, then they know that the other half of the puzzle is nearby. For example, if players stumble upon a red key, then there’s likelya safe somewhere close in the same level.

Safes hold a ton of resources, too, and can be a great way to get a lot of Military-Grade Ammo. Finally, Military-Grade Ammo is always hiding in out-of-the-way areas. It might be hiding in a bookshelf ortucked away behind someone’s bed. Players must check every nook and cranny to ensure they’re not missing anything.

Players can find these traders in stations, typically between major story Chapters of the game.

When a player interacts with a trader, they’re met witha slightly confusing shopping screen. Players should first look at the Buy and Sell text at the bottom of the screen. They should see a number beside each one. It might look something like this:

This means that if a player wanted to buy ammo for their shotgun, for example,it would cost them six Military-Grade Ammo for a full clip of shotgun ammo. If they wanted to sell ammo to get some Military-Grade Ammo, then the number beside Sell indicates that if a player wereto sell one full clip of shotgun ammo, they’d get one Military-Grade Ammo in return.

When buying a weapon, players have two options. They canbuy the weapon at its listing price, which is typically on a plaque beside the weapon with a number on it, or they cantrade one of their weapons in. If players choose to trade in a weapon, then this will take down the listing price for the new weapon.

In most cases, a player will likelystill need to use some Military-Grade Ammoto cover the rest of the cost of the new weapon. Trading in a used weapon will rarely pay for an entirely new weapon. The remaining price after the trade-in is also depicted on the plaque beside the weapon. The number tells playershow much Military-Grade Ammothey’ll need to spend after their trade-in value is applied.

Players can alsomodify their equipped weapons. Each modification has a price attached to it as indicated by a plaque beside the upgrade. If players don’t have enough Military-Grade Ammo, thenthey can always take the riskand sell some of their usable ammo to get more.

It’s typically safe to sell half of a player’s ammo for each weapon since a lot of ammo typically spawns just after a visit to a station (or even in the station itself).

InMetro 2033: Redux, players will want to stock up on military-grade ammo tobuy the most powerful weapons and keep their ammo fully loaded.
