But there’s another reveal hidden inMarvel Rivals' Season 2 trailer, one that could have some pretty big ramifications on the future ofMarvel Rivals' story.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 Loki Doom 2099

The Marvel Rivals Season 2 Trailer Could Be Teasing a Doom and Loki Team-Up

Marvel Rivals Season 2’s Doom and Loki Tease Explained

Towards the end ofMarvel Rivals' Season 2 trailer, just before Ultron appears to break up the lavish party, the camera sweeps across the super-powered guests in attendance. Magneto (kitted out in hisHouse of M-inspired garb) and his daughter Scarlet Witch take center frame, while Wolverine – dressed in his “undercover” Patch outfit – leans against an ornate pillar to the right of the shot.

Loki can be seen on the left side of the screen, dressed in his Presidential Attire outfit, and talking with a mysterious hulking figure who has his back to the camera. This foreboding figure is Doom 2099, one-half ofMarvel Rivals’main antagonist duo.

What This Tease Could Mean for Marvel Rivals' Future

To fully understand what this tease could mean forMarvel Rivals' future, it’s necessary to recap some ofMarvel Rivals' story so far. The game’s narrative kicks off with Doom and his 2099 counterpart messing with time and space, which results in the creation of the Timestream Entanglement, a crisis that sees multiple timelines and parallel dimensions converging.

In one of these dimensions, Odin has entered his long period of hibernation known as Odinsleep, and Loki has seized the opportunity to wrestle power away from his brother. With the help of Hela, Loki banishes Thor to another reality, and he takes Yggsgard’s throne for himself. Loki also discovers that the sap of the Yggdrasil tree at the heart of Yggsgard has become imbued with Chronovium followingthe Timestream Entanglement. Loki uses this temporal substance to see into the future.

Marvel RivalsSeason 1 sees Doom giving Chronovium to Dracula, which the vampire lord uses alongside the Darkhold to briefly invade and take over New York. Based on the trailer, it seemsMarvel RivalsSeason 2’s storywill see Ultron trying to bring about his “Age of Ultron,” where he intends to wipe out both human and Mutantkind and replace them with AI. It seems likely one of the Dooms is helping Ultron in his crusade, using it as another distraction to keep the heroes busy while he rules over the Timestream Entanglement.

It also seems very probable that Loki will be the next of Dooms' puppets, with their teased discussion at the Hellfire Gala likely leading to a future season ofMarvel Rivalswhere Loki gains some new powers and wreaks even more havoc on Yggsgard. This potential storyline would also be a great way to introduce Valkyrie and Angela, two fighters that have been leaked to appear inMarvel Rivalsfor months now.

It’s been announced thatMarvel Rivals' seasons are going to last just two months instead of three, so it’s only natural that NetEase would want to drop teases for future seasons already, as they’re going to start appearing at a much faster rate.
