Players can now drive their way to races in Grand Prix, andMario Kart World’s new Free Roam modewill let them explore the game’s many unique environments at their own pace.

Eight of these environments were officially revealed and named during theApril 17Mario Kart WorldNintendo Direct livestream. First is Mario Bros. Circuit, a desert town where players can cruise along its neighboring canyon. Then there’s Crown City, a sprawling metropolis filled with shortcuts and boost jumps that racers can use to glide through the air. Salty Salty Speedway lets competitors sail through its canals, while Starview Peak features icy turns that players could slip off if they aren’t too careful. Lastly, Boo Cinema is a haunted movie theater, complete with Boos that spook unsuspecting drivers at every turn.

Returning From Classic Games

Mario Kart Worldis also bringing back older tracks fromclassicMario Kartentries, with three of them confirmed during today’s Nintendo Direct. Toad’s Factory fromMario Kart Wii, Peach Beach fromMario Kart Double Dash, and Wario’s Shipyard fromMario Kart 7are all set to return. Nintendo says that more classic tracks will be revealed in the future, and there was even a hint that the iconic Rainbow Road could be unlocked by completing all ofMario Kart World’s Grand Prix cups.

These classic courses will be spread out acrossMario Kart World’s open game map, which will also have a day/night cycle.Mario Kart Worldis set to launchalongside the Switch 2 itselfon June 5, so it probably won’t be long before eager fans find out more about the many colorful racetracks they can speed through on their way to winning the coveted Grand Prix trophy as Mario and company.
