Yuta Okkotsu is one of the most importantJujutsu Kaisencharacters who play a significant role in the story, especiallyafter the events of Shibuya. Fans know him to be tremendously powerful with strength that far surpasses that of the vast majority ofJJKcharacters.
Although Yuta was already very important inJujutsu Kaisen, fans saw him rise in prominence even more towards the end of the story. In fact, in the Epilogue ofJujutsu Kaisen, which came out with the last two volumes of the story, Gege Akutami revealed to the fans that Yuta Okkotsu had gained total control over the Gojo family as its head, and this was following the death of Gojo Satoru.
Gojo’s Death And The Open Spot In The Gojo Clan
When it comes toJJK, fans know that there exist three powerful clans in Japan that are far superior to any other family. These three big families are the Gojo family, the Kamo family, and of course the Zenin family. The Zenin family was utterly wiped out by Maki Zenin in Jujutsu Kaisen, and fans know that Kenjaku ripped apart the leadership of the Kamo family as well.

At the same time, fans also know that the Gojo family was at its very peak throughout the run of JJK,which was largely down to just one man, Gojo Satoru. After Gojo was born, the balance of the world shifted entirely. This was largely because he was blessed with powers that one could only dream of. Gojo had access to the Limitless cursed technique and with it, the power of the Six Eyes as well. He was the first person in 400 years to have access to both of these powers, making him incredibly special. Gojo put immense effort into becoming a very strong sorcerer, and all his hard work eventually made him rise to the very top. While Gojo was the strongest of his era, fans know that he eventually failed to beat Sukuna in Shinjuku, and although they were largely even, Gojo eventually lost his life.
How Yuta Rose To The Position Of Gojo Clan Acting Head
If there’s one thing that fans know about the aftermathof the Shinjuku Showdown, it is the fact that the Gojo family was in turmoil. There are living members of the Gojo family still, including Satoru’s very own parents, however, fans don’t know many of them. The clan lost a major source of power in Shinjuku, and with that, a good portion of the control that had been established on the Jujutsu Society. Although this control was lost for quite a while, it was restored already by the year 2035.

InJJK’sepilogue, it is confirmed to the fans that by the year 2035, Yuta had risen to claim the position of the headof the Gojo family. To be more specific, Yuta is the acting head of the Gojo family, and this makes him one of the most powerful characters in the world, both strength-wise and from a political standpoint.
As to how Yuta ended up claiming this position, the answer is simple.Yuta is Gojo’s very own successorand protege. He was always bound to succeed him. That said, Yuta wouldn’t just get the position based on a personal relationship with Gojo. It is highly likely that the fact that Yuta and Gojo share a common ancestor in Sugawara Michizane played a big part here. Since they have a common bloodline, this decision would’ve been easy, given his strength, influence, and personal relationship with Gojo.
