This article contains spoilers for Part 6 and beyond of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Summary

When it comes toJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, each part is beloved by a different part of the community. Although some parts have more fans than others, it seems that none of them are truly hated by the community. Even Part 1: Phantom Blood, which is often regarded as the worst part of the series, is still respected for its fun characters and for being the progenitor of many of the quirks that fans would come to know and love.

However, asJoJo’s Bizarre Adventuredelves deeper into Part 9, an interesting trend has risen in the community. More and more, fans are starting to regard the newerJoJo’sparts of the new universe, Parts 7, 8, and 9, as the best the series has to offer, with Part 7 being regarded as the peak of the entire series. While this may seem like a normal case of recency bias, there are other reasons that make the newer universe ofJoJo’sso beloved by fans.

JoJo’s Part 6 Ended The Original Timeline Of The Series

Steel Ball Run Started In A Whole New World

At the end of Part 6, Pucci, the main antagonist of the part, gainsthe ability of Made in Heaven, a power that allows him to accelerate time and create new universes. After killing most of the primary protagonists of the arc, including Jolyne, Pucci was able to reset the universe, before he was stopped by Emporio. However, now, since characters like Jolyne and Jotaro had died in the previous timeline, they were replaced by similar, yet different characters, ultimately ending the Joestar family arc of the original universe.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run, on the other hand, takes place in an entirely different, yet parallel universe to the original. Although it has nothing to do withthe antagonist of Part 6, Pucci, resetting the original universe, in many ways, it feels like this change of setting follows many of the ideas created by it. In this new universe, characters are very similar to their previous counterparts, yet different in many ways. For example, rather than the honorable Jonathan, Part 7’s protagonist is the horse-riding prodigy Johnny.

Part 7 And Beyond Provides A Chance For Fresh new Adventures

The Characters Of The New Universe Have Much More Depth

This fresh new setting, as well as the second chance to explore previousJoJo’sparts, is one of the reasons fans have come to enjoy the new parts so much. Without needing to rely on much in terms of continuitythroughout the newJoJo’suniverse, these parts are allowed to explore their wacky adventures to their fullest, rather than needing to focus on the adventures of long-standing characters, like the original Dio. Due to this, these parts can create some of the most interesting settings and unique charactersJoJo’shas had to date.

At the same time, the character writing in general for the newer parts is widely regarded as being superior to previous parts of the series. Although characters like Jonathan are beloved by many fans, admittedly, they are fairly one-note and have very little development. However, looking atJohnny, the protagonist of Part 7has a much more fleshed-out personality and tons of depth, making him one of the best protagonists in the series.

The Level Of Quality Increased Massively In Part 7

Monthly Releases Helped Give More Development Time Per Chapter

Finally, while all ofJoJo’sis fairly high in terms of quality,Steel Ball Runand the parts beyondinclude a massive increase in quality when the series changed from weekly to monthly releases. While fans had to wait longer for each new chapter, every new release featured cleaner art and better writing than a majority of the weekly chapters. Plus, overall, these slower releases helped fans to not get sick ofJoJo’scontent too fast, pacing the story out at a fairly reasonable rate.

In the end, there are plenty of reasons whytheJoJo’scommunity loves Parts 7and beyond so much. Basically, it boils down to a massive leap in quality thatJoJo’sexperienced when starting its new timeline. With Parts 7 and 8 often being many fans' two favorite parts, hopefully, Part 9 will continue this trend.
