A Tribute To Akira Toriyama in Super Vol. 24
In addition to the many new illustrations in the volume, Toyotaro alsoincluded a heartfelt tribute to Akira Toriyama— this is the firstDragon Ball Supervolume to be released after his death. The tribute is an illustration with many characters from many of Toriyama’s works.
Many fans got emotional by the new illustration, and pointed out that Toyotaro remembered thatToriyama created many other seriesand characters that are not part of theDragon Balluniverse, and his work as a creator and a mangaka is much bigger thanDragon Ball.
Saiyamen X’s Origin Story Was Drafted By Toriyama
As usual, Toyotaro also left a message at the end of the volume, giving more information about Chapter 104, which is a special chapter showing the origin story of Saiyamen X, that is, Goten and Trunks dressed as superheroes in Gohan’s Great Saiyaman style.
He said thatToriyama gave him a text with a draft of this story, but he let Toyotaro choose whether to include it in the story or not. Toyotaro thought that he wouldn’t be able to include it because he had to write the Super Hero arc in a limited number of chapters. Later, when the arc was coming to an end, he asked to draw the story as a one-shot, and the request was approved.
