Now thatInZOIhas been made playable to the public, those who have looked at it with interest since its announcement can finally enjoy InZOI Studio’s flagship title. So far, it has delivered on its promises and then some, as it has features and mechanics that no other life simulation game has yet to provide. Still, people can’t help but compareInZOIto the one that defined the genre,The Sims, and given how the latter has evolved throughout the years, it would undoubtedly have a few things that not even the former does. One of those would be the ability to toggle aging for characters, and there’s an argument for adding it in a future update.

On July 02, 2025,InZOI’s early access went live, and players can now enjoy all the content it currently contains. While it has what one would expect out of a modern life simulation game, like building and personalizing homes or interacting with numerous characters, the thing that has piqued people’s interest is the exclusion of the ability to toggle aging. While the purpose ofInZOIis to make one play through multiple generations of families, the decision not to include the feature still seems questionable, especially sinceThe Simshas shown that it’s something players appreciate and constantly use. But perhaps the developers had already considered this and decided to remove it regardless, thinking it would be more beneficial for the game in the long run, which only time will tell if it is.

How InZOI Benefits From Keeping Aging Out of the Player’s Control

Although there are players who are against the feature’s exclusion, it has not stopped most players from enjoying the game. Not having the ability to prevent aging does not make the game any less fun, and one can say it makes it even more so, especially when considering a few things:

Given what the lack of age toggling can do forInZOI, the developers may just decide not to add it even in the future. Still, one can never tell what could happen, and maybe an eventual update will include it after all, if the team thinks it’s worth doing so.

Why InZOI Should Still Consider Putting in an Option That Toggles Aging

The more realistic approach toInZOI’s in-game life cycle is a truly different experience, but one that not everyone likes. There may be people who stopped enjoying the game due to the fear of losing whatever progress was made withthe death of a Zoithey’ve come to adore. This could result in them stopping to play altogether, even with the option to revert to an earlier save to try and undo what happened.

Having the ability to toggle aging allows players to disregard the worry of natural death, giving them more freedom about what it is they want to do instead of being careful and ensuring that they keep playing for a long time. Also, having the ability to toggle aging may even attract dedicatedSimsfans who are used to the feature, helpingInZOIgrow its audienceand popularity.

There are so many things to do inInZOIthat one cannot help but question why aging isn’t optional. There is always the possibility that the team at InZOI Studios could decide to include a toggling feature in the future. But for now, players will have to experience the game the way the developer intended: by living through the lives of different in-game generations.
