Meanwhile,Zenless Zone Zeroalso has equippable companions called Bangboos, which have varied abilities to aid units in battle.
Perhaps all these HoYoverse creatures would have been the basis for the upcoming game. One method to make the game unique could be upgrading the monsters' stats every time they level up and possibly equipping items to them.
